The Associate Account Executive (AAE) is an entry-level to early-career sales role designed to train future Account Executives. The role functions as an apprentice to senior sellers, supporting the sales team in prospecting, pitch development, account coverage, and day-to-day sales activity.
While not a quota-carrying position, the AAE plays an active role in the selling process and gains direct exposure to clients, agencies, and the full sales motion. The primary objective of the role is sales training and readiness, while meaningfully increasing the productivity of the sales team.
Note: GumGum fosters a flexible work environment, offering GumGummers the ability to work either in-office or remotely/from home. However, for occasional in-person collaboration, we kindly ask that this position be located within a 'commutable' distance to our office.
What You'll Achieve
- Partner with AEs to develop compelling sales proposals, pitch decks, and client presentations that win business.
- Act as the primary point of contact and provide seamless coverage for account lists during AE absences, ensuring no client need goes unmet.
- Support the RFP process and assist with prospecting and deep-dive account research to identify new growth opportunities.
- Join sellers in client and agency meetings, participating in pitches, and helping manage relationship-building events.
- Coordinate with Marketing, Research, and Operations teams to gather insights and materials that streamline the sales motion.
- Track sales materials and meeting follow-ups, ensuring our team is always prepared and responsive to marketplace demands.
- Shadow senior sellers to learn advanced negotiation, objection handling, and deal dynamics as you transition toward managing your own book.
- Develop a deep fluency in our products, audience positioning, and pricing strategies to effectively support scatter and upfront opportunities.
Skills You'll Bring
- Early-career professional with a strong interest in media sales
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable interacting with clients and agencies
- Curious, coachable, and motivated to build a sales career
What Success Looks Like
The Associate Account Executive role is explicitly designed as a feeder into an Account Executive position. High performers are typically promoted into junior sales roles after demonstrating mastery of sales fundamentals, client readiness, and internal execution.
- Sales teams are more efficient and spend more time in the market
- High-quality, on-time sales materials and presentations
- Strong internal reputation as a reliable sales partner
- Growing confidence and credibility in client and agency interactions
- Clear readiness to progress into an Account Executive role
