Job Description

Primary responsibility is to provide support and assistance to the other project team members in the performance of their respective responsibilities. The APM is expected at times to step into the roles of more senior members of the team, including, without limitation, running design or construction meeting, conducting field checks, preparing written and photographic materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, guidelines, meeting minutes, and proposed board action requests. The APM coordinates with the Design Team for conformance review and timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, construction change documents, etc. He/She is the person primarily responsible to maintain project files in both electronic and paper format. May supervise office/field administrative staff or project/field engineers and other assigned staff.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Functional knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to evaluate and ensure relation and compliance to project requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain data, information, communications, and approvals required by project and company requirements between owner, architects, engineers, contractors/subcontractors, or other project related entities.
  • Design Team Coordination for conformance review and timely and accurate responses to request for informations, submittals, construction change documents, etc.
  • Maintain document and project controls systems and procedures. Monitors, evaluates and ensures compliance with systems and procedures.
  • Participate in project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses.
  • Knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with construction/project requirements
  • Assists in the management of project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures, project logistics, organization, systems, developing project specific procedures, documentation and related A/E systems for the project and project closeout
  • Supports project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses
  • May assist in coordinating and monitoring activities of construction management staff, contractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Makes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, and university standards

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required (Extensive relevant project management experience in place of education may be considered)
  • 7 years' experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management of commercial and/or public or educational facility construction projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager
  • Knowledge of project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles is required
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required
  • Proficiency with various document control systems, as well as new construction and modernization of educational facilities is preferred
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred
  • Basic understanding and application of accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related systems such as Primavera and e-builder.
  • Ability to represent Vanir and related entities in a professional manner at all times to ensure company policies and procedures as well as compliance to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Professional Engineer in Training License (EIT), Certified Construction Manager in Training (CMIT), or similar credential preferred

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $100,000-$135,000.
