We are looking for a hands-on, creative Art Director with graphic design skills to join the Creative Team in Los Angeles. This role demands a high taste level and a strong connection to North American music and pop culture. You will be responsible for contributing innovative art direction and design across a broad range of executional mediums, from new media and digital environments to more traditional formats, ensuring the Serato brand is presented with creative excellence and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities:

  • Brand & Creative Leadership
    • Work closely with the Creative Director to evolve the Serato brand's visual manifestation into a mature, iconic, and globally recognizable presence.
    • Incubate and execute concepts that transcend designed visual executions.
    • Source great photography and/or direct photographers.
    • Concept video and motion-based visual executions, and direct filmmaker and design maker partners.
  • Art Direction & Design Execution
    • Contribute to the visual direction and design execution of Serato with an endlessly critical eye for detail.
    • Update and maintain the Serato brand guidelines documentation, ensuring correct implementation and helping to establish new design principles.
    • Keep up to date with current creative trends and recommend appropriate changes.
    • Apply a good working knowledge of social media ‘best practice’ creative principles.
  • Audio Visual Production
    • Conceive, storyboard, and direct motion graphics and audio visual communications (ads, content pieces) in close collaboration with the Creative Director.
    • Demonstrate a passion for pop-cultural content production and motion design.

Essential skills candidates will possess:

  • Demonstrable art direction and graphic design skills with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency as a finished artist.
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to ideate, concept, and execute visual media.
  • Experience ideating and directing multi-media communications/campaigns in response to marketing strategies, with a focus on new media and digital environments.
  • Ability to solve problems critically, creatively, and effectively.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of a wide range of music.
  • Ability and passion to learn emerging visual design technology, including AI and generative models, for use in the creative process.
  • Freehand illustration and digital rendering skills would be highly advantageous to your application

We are looking for a candidate who is a creative, passionate, organized, and personable team player. The ideal person must be confident in expressing and articulating ideas and opinions effectively while demonstrating the judgment to read the room and contribute constructively.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Serato LLC does not provide visa sponsorship for this role (e.g., H-1B, E-3, O-1, etc.). We are only considering candidates who are already physically located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
