  • Compensation: $32.75/ hr + Bonus
  • Start Date: Oct 20 2026
  • End Date: Jan 10 2027

About the Role
We are seeking an operational, people-centric Area Sales Manager (ASM) to lead our dedicated Best Buy Assisted Selling Team. In this role, you will be directly responsible for the operational leadership, daily sales performance, and talent management of 20–25 in-store Sales Specialists/Brand Advocates placed across key Best Buy retail locations in your designated territory.

Your focus centers on driving retail sell-through inside the Best Buy channel. You will coach reps on real-time customer engagement and product demos, manage operational KPIs, track territory conversion rates, synthesize weekly store-level reporting, and build productive working partnerships with Best Buy Store General Managers and Department Supervisors.

Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Management
● Directly manage, recruit, onboard, and develop a team of 20–25 in-store Assisted
Sales Specialists across high-volume Best Buy storefronts.
● Conduct regular field visits, side-by-side coaching, and retail audits to ensure sales
specialists master product demonstrations, actively engage shoppers, and deliver
consistent brand advocacy. Travel does include multi state support.
● Manage end-to-end people operations: scheduling, timesheets, payroll approval,
attendance/adherence tracking, performance improvement plans, and annual
performance reviews.
● Cultivate a high-accountability, high-energy sales culture focused on customer
experience and consistent metric attainment.

Sales Tracking & Performance Analysis
● Monitor daily and weekly sales metrics, sell-through units, attach rates, and staffing
efficiency against company and client sales targets.
● Identify high-performing locations and underperforming doors; implement targeted
coaching, shifts in schedule coverage, or tactical floor plays to remedy performance
gaps.
● Ensure team compliance with merchandising guidelines, demo fixture uptime, and live
product functionality inside every covered Best Buy store.

Reporting & Business Insights
● Compile and deliver structured weekly performance reports, synthesizing territory
sales trends, foot traffic patterns, competitive activity, inventory bottlenecks, and
customer feedback.
● Partner with client leadership and internal account teams during weekly and monthly
business reviews to present actionable retail intelligence straight from the sales floor.
● Leverage Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) to maintain clean territory tracking
sheets, dashboards, and executive updates.

Retail Partner Alignment
● Build and preserve strong working relationships with Best Buy General Managers
(GMs), Assistant Store Managers (ASMs), and Experience Supervisors to secure prime
product placement, associate cross-collaboration, and scheduling alignment.
● Serve as the primary escalation point for store leadership regarding team attendance,
floor conduct, and inventory allocation.

Qualifications

● Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical field experience.
● Experience:
○ 3+ years of direct sales experience within big-box retail or consumer
electronics (Best Buy ecosystem experience strongly preferred).
○ 2+ years of direct supervisory/people-management experience leading retail
teams, store associates, or field sales representatives.
● Data & Analytics: Demonstrated ability to track sales data, calculate run rates/KPIs,
identify root-cause trends, and build weekly executive status reports.
● Communication & Relationships: Strong verbal and written communication skills with
proven success building rapport with retail store management (GMs, Supervisors).
● Technical Proficiency: Fluent with Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Slides, Docs,
Drive, Meet) and retail reporting platforms.
● Travel & Schedule: Willingness to work a standard 40-hour work week with 50–75%
travel across the assigned territory, including regular weekend visits during peak retail
foot-traffic hours.

What We Offer
● Competitive Pay & Incentive: $32.75 per hour (40 hours/week), plus a quarterly bonus
● Growth & Support: Dedicated quarterly development days, structured leadership
training programs, tuition reimbursement, and a consistent history of internal
promotions.
● Perks: Employee discount programs, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and access
to approved enterprise AI tools for productivity.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
