As an Applied AI/ML Researcher within the AI4Tech Team at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead technology research and development initiatives focused on advancing AI capabilities across the firm. Leveraging your deep engineering expertise, you will collaborate with agile teams to drive innovation in developer productivity, CI/CD, observability, incident response, and the secure, compliant integration of AI into technical operations. Your role emphasizes establishing and nurturing common capabilities, best practices, and reusable frameworks to support AI excellence and consistency throughout the organization. You will blend hands-on technical work with strategic and advisory responsibilities, guiding platform choices, operating models, and controls in a regulated enterprise environment. Staying abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, you will help shape the future of AI-driven technology at JPMorgan Chase.

Job Responsibilities

- Conduct applied research and development on GenAI and agentic AI solutions to enhance developer productivity, CI/CD automation, observability, and operational resilience.
- Design, prototype, and evaluate AI-driven tools and frameworks that streamline engineering workflows, improve code quality, and accelerate technology delivery.
- Establish and promote best practices, reusable components, and common capabilities for integrating AI into technology platforms in a secure, stable, and scalable manner.
- Collaborate with agile engineering teams to identify opportunities for AI adoption, provide technical guidance, and support the implementation of innovative solutions.
- Develop and maintain policies, guardrails, and controls to ensure responsible, compliant, and auditable use of AI technologies within the enterprise.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform strategic direction and maintain the firm’s leadership in AI-driven technology innovation.
- Communicate research findings, technical insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear documentation, presentations, and decision briefs.

Required qualifications, skills and capabilities

- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, applied AI/ML research, or technology R&D, with strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern development tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands‑on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience with GenAI, agentic AI, prompt engineering, function/tool calling, and integrating AI into developer and operational workflows.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, developer productivity tooling, observability, and incident response in large-scale, regulated environments.
- Strong background in secure software development, data privacy, access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate, challenge the status quo, and deliver impactful technology solutions in a fast-paced, enterprise setting.
