Department Overview
The W&D Affordable Development business line (“Affordable Development”) serves as a co-developer and co-sponsor of affordable housing properties. WDAD was formed to collaborate with experienced developers in the acquisition and development of affordable projects. Affordable Development provides pre-development financing and support to local developers and joint development ventures in matters regarding accounting, banking, construction management, construction draws, tax credit syndication, and other pre-approved processes. Affordable Development is experienced in the development and/or management of multifamily rental housing and tax credit developments.
The Impact You Will Have
The Analyst, Development provides analytical and operational support to the W&D Affordable Development team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial and operational reporting, updating property-level data, and supporting portfolio tracking, reporting, and presentations. Working closely with the development team, the Analyst helps ensure consistent, timely, and accurate reporting across the Affordable Development portfolio. This position is designed to build a strong foundation in affordable housing finance, portfolio management, and real estate development analytics, serving as a key support role within the team.
Primary Responsibilities
Update and maintain Investment Committee materials, reports, and related project documentation.
Maintain and update historical financial data within property-level financial models and databases.
Support the preparation and distribution of monthly financial and operational reports.
Assist with compiling quarterly portfolio updates for senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Gather, organize, and validate financial and operational data from multiple sources for portfolio reporting.
Support analysis of project operating statements, budgets, and key financial metrics.
Assist with due diligence coordination for development projects, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and well-organized.
Update and manage internal data management and tracking tools, ensuring data accuracy and standardization across projects.
Coordinate scheduling, meeting materials, and note-taking for meetings with joint venture partners and internal stakeholders.
Ensure data integrity and timely updates across internal portfolio systems and reporting platforms.
Coordinate with internal partners across development, asset management, acquisitions, accounting, and investor relations to support data accuracy and process efficiency.
Perform other duties as assigned
Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
1+ year of relevant experience in real estate development, affordable housing, finance, or a related analytical role preferred.
Previous exposure to Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) or other affordable housing programs is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial data clearly and accurately.
Solid PowerPoint skills, with experience creating clear, professional presentation materials.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and take ownership of work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Self-starter capable of working independently while leveraging AI and other analytical tools to improve efficiency.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly present findings, trends, and insights to senior leadership.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to show ownership of your work, embrace challenges and growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
Demonstrates courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness when teaming with colleagues and collaborating with stakeholders
This position has an estimated base salary of $65,000 - $75,000 plus discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
