Build and ship full-stack software products from concept through production and operation. Product Engineers own product areas end to end, conduct user discovery, define technical architecture, design APIs and data models, document decisions, and iterate with customers and operators. The role emphasizes 0-to-1 product development, rapid delivery, high-quality code, and direct user engagement using React, Next.js, TypeScript, Go, and Python.

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. By combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost.

Following our $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, Hadrian is rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint, launching new capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more, while scaling our Factory-as-a-Service platform to transform how critical products are built.

Backed by leading investors including JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley, we’re building the future of American manufacturing—and looking for exceptional people to help make it happen.

If you’re ready to take on the most challenging and rewarding work of your career while helping create American manufacturing jobs for generations to come, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.

The Role

Product Engineers at Hadrian are software engineers who own the full product lifecycle, from figuring out what to build to shipping and operating it. You'll work directly with the people running mission-critical manufacturing programs, identify problems worth solving, and turn ambiguous requirements into working software.

Much of the work is 0 to 1. You'll build new products, extend existing systems, and help turn successful prototypes into durable platform capabilities. You'll spend most of your time writing code, primarily in React, Next.js, TypeScript, Go, and Python, but we care more about engineering judgment than familiarity with our stack.

There's no PM handing you a PRD and no layer between you and your users. Product judgment, technical depth, and the ability to move quickly all matter. The team is early, and the people joining now will have significant influence over both our product direction and how the team operates.

No prior aerospace, defense, or manufacturing experience required.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship full stack products. Take software from an empty repo to production, with real users who depend on it.

  • Own a product area end to end. Stay on it from the first unclear conversation through design, build, launch, and iteration.

  • Make and document the technical calls. Choose the architecture, data models, and tradeoffs, and write them down for other engineers.

  • Do your own discovery. Talk to users, watch how they work, and find the real problem behind the request.

  • Ship fast, keep quality high, and feed the platform. Get working software to users early, keep code readable and tested, and bring requirements back to the core platform.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep software engineering experience. You’ve shipped full stack applications, worked in large codebases, and tech led critical projects.

  • Strong system design skills. You design services, APIs, and data models that hold up as usage grows.

  • Extreme product intuition and a 0-to-1 track record. You think as hard about what to build as how to build it, and you’re comfortable shipping in unclear environments.

  • Direct work with users, and clear communication. You turn customer needs into shipped software, explain tradeoffs to any audience, and push back when the ask doesn’t match the problem.

  • AI native, with a bias to action. You use AI across your whole workflow, can show how it makes you much faster, and care more about the right solution than being right.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Founder or founding engineer experience. You’ve taken a new product from 0 to 1.

  • Product ownership without a PM. You’ve owned a product area, or worked as an engineer and PM hybrid.

  • Operations tooling. You’ve built workflow tools or data heavy applications for operations teams.

  • Forward deployed experience. You’ve done forward deployed, solutions engineering, or technical consulting work built against messy customer reality.

  • A visible body of work. A strong GitHub presence or projects shipped outside of work.

Logistics
This role is based out of our Los Angeles (Torrance) or San Francisco Bay Area office. You'll travel now and then to spend time onsite with customers and operators so you understand their work firsthand. This role does not involve heavy travel or long deployments.

Compensation

For this role, the target salary range is $223,000 - $359,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Benefits for Full-time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
    401k

  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • Equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
