Develop and optimize deep reinforcement learning systems for trading. Collaborate with researchers to build efficient, production-ready code and maintain training pipelines.
The summary above was generated by AI

DeepFin is a systematic proprietary trading firm combining deep learning, traditional quantitative research methods, and cutting-edge trading technology, to trade global markets. Founded by engineers and researchers, we build and deploy advanced trading systems that operate across global markets.

Our team is lean, highly technical, and impact-driven - every hire plays a direct role in shaping the firm’s technology, strategy, and performance. We value curiosity, precision, and collaboration, and we’re building an environment where exceptional people can do their best work at the intersection of AI and financial markets.

About DeepFin Research

DeepFin Research is a proprietary high-frequency trading (HFT) firm powered by cutting-edge Deep Learning (DL) and Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). We do not rely on traditional quant strategies; instead, we build autonomous, self-learning trading agents that operate at the microsecond level. You will be joining an elite team of Kaggle Grandmasters and former senior researchers from DeepMind and Nvidia to build innovative AI strategies in quantitative finance.

The Role

We are looking for an exceptional AI Research Engineer to bridge the gap between groundbreaking AI research and ultra-low latency production systems. In this role, you will be the architectural backbone of our research team. You will own the end-to-end RL stack, scaling cutting-edge deep reinforcement learning models across multi-GPU clusters and optimizing them down to the bare metal using CUDA.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End RL Infrastructure: Architect, build, and maintain our proprietary end-to-end DRL training and inference pipelines.

  • Distributed Training: Design and scale multi-GPU and multi-node training systems for massive parameter models, ensuring maximum throughput and minimal bottlenecks.

  • Hardware-Level Optimization: Write, profile, and optimize custom CUDA kernels to accelerate both the training of complex neural networks and the ultra-low latency inference engine used in live trading.

  • Research Collaboration: Work side-by-side with our senior researchers (ex-DeepMind, ex-Nvidia) and Kaggle Grandmasters to translate mathematical formulations and algorithmic prototypes into highly efficient, production-ready code.

  • Environment & Simulation: Optimize our custom market-simulation environments, ensuring massive parallelization for RL agent rollouts and experience replay.

Requirements
  • Educational Background: MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or a highly related field.

  • Deep Learning & RL Expertise: Deep understanding of modern DL and DRL algorithms (PPO, SAC, DQN, Transformer architectures) and frameworks (PyTorch, JAX).

  • High-Performance Computing: Proven track record with distributed training paradigms (DDP, FSDP, Megatron, Ray) and multi-GPU orchestration.

  • Systems Programming: Exceptional skills in C++ and Python.

  • CUDA Mastery: Hands-on experience writing custom CUDA kernels and profiling GPU performance (Nsight Systems, Nsight Compute).

If you’re passionate about applying advanced technology to real-world markets and want to work alongside a focused, high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you. DeepFin offers a collaborative, research-driven environment where ideas move quickly from concept to execution and where every contribution has visible impact.

Join us in building the next generation of deep-learning-driven trading systems - shaping the future of finance through innovation, rigour, and technology.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
