Position Description:

Ardent is seeking a mission-driven AI/ML Data Analyst to support data-driven initiatives at USCIS. This role involves leveraging machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI to uncover actionable insights and drive informed decision-making across government stakeholders.

This position requires a combination of technical expertise, data science acumen, and federal reporting experience to deliver scalable analytics solutions in support of agency goals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, develop, and operationalize AI/ML models to support agency mission objectives, risk assessments, performance improvements, and fraud detection.
  • Translate federal program data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards using Tableau and Power BI.
  • Partner with federal business owners, data stewards, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver advanced analytics solutions.
  • Leverage Python, R, and SQL to clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data.
  • Support the development of automated data pipelines and data visual storytelling aligned with agency KPIs and strategic plans.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior government executives.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Data Strategy, privacy, Section 508, and security policies (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and demos.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a [Public Trust] clearance.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience applying AI/ML techniques to real-world problems, ideally in a federal or public sector environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Tableau and Power BI dashboard design and publishing.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and transformation.
  • Experience working with large-scale federal datasets (e.g., CMS, VA, DoD, DHS, HHS).
  • Familiarity with government reporting standards, data governance, and data security policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
  • Familiarity with MLOps or deploying models within secure, compliant environments.
  • Certifications in Tableau, Power BI, or cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices in government projects.
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 compliance and data accessibility standards.

Due to the nature of the work we support, all candidates in consideration for this role must be willing to undergo the government issued background investigation process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
