After School Program Mentors ("ASPs") are responsible for leading students in fun, engaging, and developmentally aligned after-school programming that provides daily academic, recreation, and enrichment activities for Transitional Kindergarten (TK)—8th-grade students.

This is a part-time, school-site-based position with daily afternoon hours, approximately 23 hours per week (MON/TUES/THURS/FRI: Dismissal/1:45 - 6 pm, WEDS: Dismissal/12:45 - 6 pm). 

 



Responsibilities

  • Monitors students’ arrival and departure to the out-of-school time.
  • Tracks student attendance with appropriate student attendance programs.
  • Plan, organize, and implement a variety of creative indoor activities and team sports, including mindfulness, and study habits programs.
  • Supervise assigned students to ensure that they are safest all times and that the program operates according to the daily schedule in an organized and effective manner
  • Oversee academic, homework, and enrichment activities 
  • Support student snack and supper program data tracking
  • Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and training as scheduled and required
  • Other duties, as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (AA degree or at least two years of college coursework preferred)
  • Experience working with school-aged children in an academic or recreational setting
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Extensive knowledge of age-appropriate classroom and behavior management skills and age-appropriate activities
  • Plan and facilitate fun engaging activities indoors and outdoors
  • Lead groups of students in activities while placing a high priority on safety
  • Work independently and collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and students
  • Passion for working with youth
  • Fluency in a second language preferred (Spanish and Korean as high-priority languages)
