A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a temp-to-hire Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support a growing finance team. The Accounting Supervisor will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance while supervising key members of the accounting team. This role works closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support budgeting and government reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop the accounting team, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback
- Oversee month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and variance reports
- Support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance activities
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and government invoicing/reporting requirements
- Review payroll, vendor payments, and ACH transactions for accuracy
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accounting operations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience leading accounting staff
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with Microsoft 365; Sage 100 and Paylocity experience preferred
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
