Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Accounting Manager to lead our Corporate Accounting team. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day corporate accounting operations, drive the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, and ensure compliance with GAAP standards. As a key leader within the finance department, you will manage a team of accountants, spearhead process improvements, and partner with cross-functional leaders to provide accurate and actionable financial insights. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong technical accounting skills, and is passionate about mentorship and team development.

What you'll do
  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for corporate entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of general accountants; foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses (e.g., balance sheet and P&L fluctuations)
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance where applicable)
  • Ensure strict adherence to US GAAP and company policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation to ensure a smooth audit process
  • Identify inefficiencies in current accounting workflows and implement scalable software automation and process improvements
  • Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal teams to support corporate initiatives, budgeting, and ad-hoc financial projects
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP and corporate accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros)
  • Experience working with enterprise-level ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)
While not required, these are a plus:
  • CPA or CMA designation (strongly preferred) or progress toward licensure
  • A mix of public accounting and private corporate industry experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
