ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

  • Perform cost analysis, identify and investigate accounting irregularities/abnormalities and report to management.
  • Work collaboratively with Production Department to review monthly plant expenses.
  • Prepare journal entries to accrue revenue and expenses or other items in accordance with GAAP and the accounting policies established by the company.
  • Perform account reconciliation to ensure balances are correct.
  • Review accounts to resolve and understand unusual items and variances.
  • Provide support and necessary documents for annual external audit.
  • Assist Controller to continue developing improvements in internal policies, procedures, and processes. 
  • Liaise with information systems and technologies team to implement improvements to the accounting system.
  • Prepare, review, and audit internal payment requests to ensure accurate and proper documentation.
  • Support Controller on income and other tax filing requirements.
  • Learn the basics of the accounts payable system and function.
  • Assist with month-end closing
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
Qualifications

Qualifications for Accounting Analyst

  • Strong critical thinking skills and understanding of basic accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)
  • High-level knowledge of US GAAP
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations quickly and utilize information in written reports
  • Comfortable preparing and delivering reports to management

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field AND 4 to 6 years of full-time accounting experience.  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title is preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM and have experience with other analytical software tools.
