Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis is looking for a smart, scrappy, and tech-obsessed Account Manager to join our Consumer Technology team. Based in Los Angeles, this role is designed for a PR professional with 5–6 years of experience who lives for the rabbit hole of The Verge, WIRED, and Fast Company, but also understands the cultural influence of Hypebeast and Refinery29.
As an Account Manager, you are the engine of your accounts. You are a self-starter who can manage the day-to-day for high-growth startups and established brands independently, while partnering with senior leadership to scale strategy for our larger global clients. Whether you’re launching a new wearable, navigating a fintech rollout, or executing a gaming event, you are cool under pressure and meticulously organized.
The Role:
Account Stewardship: Serve as the primary daily contact for a roster of consumer tech and lifestyle clients, ensuring projects move from concept to completion and that internal teams stay motivated and on-task.
Integrated Consumer Strategy: Execute 360-degree communications strategies that bridge traditional tech reviews, lifestyle feature stories, and creator-led social content.
Media Impact: Leverage your growing network of tech, business, and lifestyle media contacts to secure needle-moving coverage. You know how to translate hardware specs into human stories that land in both trades and consumer outlets.
Creator & Brand Integration: Identify and manage opportunities for influencers and brand partners to participate in client projects. You understand how to brief talent to ensure their content feels authentic while hitting client KPIs.
Creative Pitching: Rethink traditional tech PR. You’ll be expected to brainstorm and execute "out-of-the-box" pitch angles that prove our value as experts in the ever-evolving attention economy.
Content Excellence: Craft sharp, persuasive materials—from press releases and product launch kits to social-first pitches and executive briefing notes.
The Nuanced Leader: You possess exceptional situational awareness. You have the executive presence to command a meeting, but the humility and judgment to take a step back and support your team or client when necessary.
Mentorship & Growth: Proactively mentor and teach junior team members ) the inner workings of tech PR. We believe in building careers, and your leadership is vital to our team’s success.
Who You Are:
The Tech-Lifestyle Hybrid: 5–6 years of experience in PR/Communications, with a specific focus on consumer hardware, apps and gaming. You have a genuine opinion on why certain products go viral.
An Integrated Thinker: You’re plugged into real-time conversation on platforms like X and quick to connect the dots between what’s trending and what it means for a client’s business.
A Proven Lead: At least 1 year of experience managing client teams with direct oversight. You are ready to project-manage complex accounts and deliver high-quality results.
The Generalist Mindset: You are curious by nature and eager to work on a variety of clients across different verticals..
An Exceptional Communicator: You are a fast, persuasive writer and a verbal communicator who can build deep trust with clients and media alike.
Highly Organized & Scrappy: You excel at managing the backend of accounts—from results reporting and budget trackers to complex launch timelines—with total precision.
