The Role

The Account Director will play a key role with one of our Brand Consulting clients, a leading global technology company. The Director will lead the day-to-day strategy, identification and management of marquee sports partnerships, and should have excellent overall knowledge of the sports landscape, properties and talent. The candidate will run a specific sports vertical and lead strategy, identification, negotiation and management of partnership(s).  Additionally, the candidate will manage a junior team and interface with the client while working cross-functionally with internal/external partners, vendors, clients and agencies.

Responsibilities

Partnership Strategy & Management

  • Strong knowledge of the sports property landscape, including new and established national and global sports properties

  • Develop and deliver overarching strategic vision based on client’s business objectives

  • Highly skilled at partnership strategy development; ability to clearly identify, communicate and assess key partnership benefits to ensure successful “sell in” to client

  • Established relationships across the sports partnership landscape

  • Highly skilled at partner negotiation with ability to demonstrate key results/examples from experience

  • Direct management of sports partnerships including leading the communication directly with properties, and working with clients & agency partners at an executive level

  • Lead and manage overall direct relationship with client

  • Direct team in the overall planning of campaigns, events and activations, working with internal account team, client team and external agencies

  • Work with CAA Data & Analytics team to develop KPIs and measurement criteria across partnerships

  • Lead other team functions (e.g. Creative, Experiential, Social Impact, Insights / trends, etc.) to ensure goals and objectives are met

  • Develop relationships across CAA to find and promote new opportunities to client

  • Manage and train junior staff members

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in sports & entertainment consulting environment, agency, property or brand

  • Established relationships with properties and entities in the sports & entertainment marketing world

  • Best-in-class client servicing and relationship building, across partners, clients and internal/external stakeholders

  • Experience working with high-profile Talent and Athletes

  • Experience managing junior team

  • Partnership strategy development with successful client sell in

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs and suite of products

  • Proficient in budget development

  • Ability to lead and execute partnership deals, from contract negotiations to partner fulfillment, across major League, Team, and Talent deals

  • Ability to lead and influence the client with opinions as a subject matter expert

  • Solution-oriented

  • Ability to travel and attend work events outside normal business hours on an as needed basis

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Agency experience highly preferred

  • Experience in mobile telecommunications a plus

  • Experience with NFL, World Football, and/or College sports is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Location

This role will be located in our New York or Los Angeles office. The Brand Consulting department offers a flexible work schedule and requires a minimum three days per week on-site.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $115,000 to $165,000. This position also is eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
