Company Description

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is a U.S.-based electrical systems and solutions provider that reduces time-to-power through its broad product portfolio, modular solutions, and more than one million square feet of U.S. manufacturing capacity.

We bring design, manufacturing, and advanced services together to deliver power reliability, scalability, and speed.

Job Description

Our 2027 Summer Internship is a paid, full-time, 9-week program built around real project ownership. You won't be shadowing or fetching coffee. You'll be assigned a scoped project with a deliverable, paired with a mentor, and given visibility to the leaders who make decisions.

About the Program

Program elements:

  • A defined project with measurable outcomes you present at the end of the summer
  • A dedicated mentor plus a manager who owns your development
  • Structured onboarding, plant and site tours, and exposure to how power infrastructure actually gets built
  • Intern cohort programming - networking, leadership speaker sessions, and a close-out event with the full summer class
  • Feedback throughout, and a real conversation about future opportunities at the end

Disciplines We're Hiring For
We recruit interns across six career families. Tell us where you fit, and we'll match you to the team and location that makes sense:

  • Engineering — electrical, mechanical, industrial, and manufacturing engineering
  • Design & Drafting — CAD, modeling, and technical documentation
  • Quality & Testing — inspection, testing protocols, continuous improvement
  • Supply Chain & Planning — procurement, materials, production planning, logistics
  • Finance & Accounting — financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, cost and reporting work in a high-growth environment
  • HR & Learning — HR business partners, talent acquisition, training and development, employee experience

What You'll Do
Specific work varies by team, but every intern can expect to:

  • Own a project that matters to the business and see it through to a result
  • Work alongside experienced professionals on live customer programs and real business problems
  • Learn our products, processes, and customers well enough to contribute an informed point of view
  • Present your work to leadership at the end of the summer
  • Get honest feedback and coaching on how you work, not just what you produce

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor's, or master's program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest relevant to one of the discipline areas above
  • Available to travel during internship to MCG product centers
  • Willingness to spend time in manufacturing and field environments
  • Available to work full-time for 9 weeks during summer 2027
  • Authorized to work in the United States

You do not need prior internship experience. You do need curiosity and a willingness to ask questions.

How You'll Fit In

Our core values aren't wall art. They're how we hire, develop, and promote. We look for people who Have Humanity, Be Transparent, Drive Innovation, Be Resilient, Always Reliable, and bring Grit. If those describe how you already work, you'll do well here.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
