2026 Associate Systems Mod Sim Engineer/Systems Mod Sim Engineer (Secret Required)
Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer/Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer. This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems sector in either Rancho Bernardo, CA or El Segundo, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Systems Engineering Organization.
The selected candidate will Support Operations Analysis and Modeling and Simulation (M&S) activities for Aeronautics Systems to inform trade studies, concepts of operations, and requirements. Other duties include:
Plan and execute studies (trade studies, sensitivity analyses, Monte Carlo), analyze results, and visualize findings to drive data-informed decisions.
Develop complex algorithms and scripts for use in mission simulation tools.
Develop, integrate, and maintain analytical models and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Python/Simulink or similar) to evaluate system performance and mission effectiveness.
Learn and understand Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to support blue/red kill chains across multiple security environments, programs, architectures, and platforms.
Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership.
Prepare clear technical documentation and concise briefings; present results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer (T01) or Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer (T02)
Basic Qualifications for an Associate Engineer Systems (T01)
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below
criteria. The candidate must:
Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026.
Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
Coursework in at least one of the following areas: Aeronautics, Meteorology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics
Active U.S. Government security clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Be able to obtain and maintain Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications for both level 1 and level 2
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
Have excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, detail-oriented approach.
Ability to develop physics based models and simulations using object oriented programming principles in MATLAB, Python, C++, or Java.
Demonstrated ability to work in a rapid prototyping.
Ability to develop physics-based models or behavior scripts.
Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and system architecture integration.
Experience with version control tools such as Github or Bitbucket
Experience developing CI/CD pipelines (Git/TFS, Azure DevOps, etc.) and collaborate in version controlled, team based environments.
Proficiency in additional object oriented languages (C#, Java) and modeling/simulation of radars, missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), air and space platforms.

Associate Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer: $63,900.00 - $111,000.00
Systems Modeling Simulations Engineer: $77,200.00 - 134,200.00
