Perkins Coie's summer associate program provides varied work and training opportunities as well as social events designed to promote interaction among summer associates, attorneys and business professionals. Our summer associate program is our primary source of new associate hires. Summer associates work on a wide range of challenging legal assignments similar to those given to new associates, which typically include legal research, analysis and drafting. Summer associates are commonly invited to attend depositions, mediations, deal closings, client meetings, trials, and other professional activities and events. They are welcome and encouraged to work on pro bono projects. Perkins Coie seeks summer associates who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership in and service to the community, and dedication to excellence in the legal profession. Candidates must be currently enrolled students in good standing pursuing the degree of Juris Doctor at an ABA-accredited law school.

Business/Emerging Companies & Venture Capital
Commercial Litigation
Patent Litigation
Patent Prosecution
Patent Litigation candidates must have a demonstrated interest in patent litigation. A technical degree or scientific background in areas of study/experience in electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, and/or a related field is a plus although all technical and scientific backgrounds, including a background in life sciences, may be considered.
Patent Prosecution candidates must be admitted to, or be eligible to sit for, the Patent Bar and have a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, and/or a related field. Candidates with technical degrees in the life sciences may also be considered.
Candidates for both Patent Litigation and Patent Prosecution must add undergraduate and graduate school transcripts to the listed required documents.
This position is not benefits-eligible; however, paid holidays are available. Monthly compensation for California is $18,750.
Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
