Transports patients and equipment throughout the hospital, performs EKGs, maintains gurneys, supports unit secretary duties, manages records and communications, responds to call lights, assists during emergencies, and reports patient changes to registered nurses. The role also supports infection control, medication security, patient and visitor assistance, chart organization, order entry, and team workload distribution.

Supervises daily operations for a cardiology clinical support department, including staffing, patient flow, employee hiring and development, performance management, workflow improvement, budgeting, compliance, equipment, and patient satisfaction. Coordinates with physicians, patients, healthcare partners, and other departments while maintaining policies, training, payroll, and regulatory standards. Performs clinical support duties as needed.

Maintains employee records and HRIS data, processes payroll and personnel changes, supports onboarding and separations, administers I-9 compliance, tracks licenses and training, generates HR reports, maintains performance records, responds to HR and payroll inquiries, and provides guidance on policies and procedures.

Reviews patient charts to determine appropriate levels of care using InterQual or MCG criteria. Secures payer authorization, manages observation and commercial cases, supports discharge planning, facilitates transfers, tracks avoidable days, and addresses denials. Collaborates with physicians, RN case managers, payers, patients, and external case managers while ensuring compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Joint Commission, and hospital utilization review requirements.

Provides RN case management for an assigned acute-care patient caseload. Coordinates utilization management, transitions of care, and discharge planning; assesses patient needs, develops plans, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and post-acute providers, manages length of stay, supports appropriate resource use, educates patients and families, and documents assessments, referrals, and care variances in the EHR.

Queries physicians and providers about incomplete or ambiguous documentation, collaborates with coding and HIM teams, educates clinicians, tracks CDI activity, evaluates program outcomes, and recommends process improvements while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Handles paper and electronic billing, collections, insurance verification, authorizations, claim edits, aging reports, denials, and claim resubmissions. Reviews and audits ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding, maintains payer-related payment information, documents collection actions, responds to payer and patient inquiries, escalates issues, and assists with training new staff.
