Our Story- Put Up or Shut Up
Beat Your Record was born because we were sick and tired of hearing people make baseless claims about their skills. We wanted to create an app that allowed people to put their skills to the test and legitimize their claims.
The App
The Beat Your Record app allows people to compete anywhere, anytime, against anyone in sports or skill games to prove that they are the best. Furthermore, players will be able to play against anyone in the world in their favorite sports in massive online multi-player tournaments that are now only possible in video games. Imagine being able to play 5,000 people in a game of quarters or 500 of your closest friends in pool.
The platform offers a number of other awesome benefits. If you are someone that likes a less popular sport like curling, you can find fellow players to play against. Also the app allows players to compete to set records in their cities, colleges, or nationally. Think Four Square but with sports. You can be the crowned the tennis king of New York or Kalamazoo.
The Beat Your Record app will allow players to:
- Compete in sports mini-games including free throws, darts, horseshoes, beer pong, quarters, pool, bowling, juggling, three pointers, hockey shootouts, and others
- Quickly organize and publicize tournaments in a variety of sports and skills
- Identify fellow sports fans in your area and across the world to play against
- Hold tournaments to support charities and fundraise for sports teams
- Set and beat records in your city, university, country, and across the world
The Team
Beat Your Record has a dedicated team of 8 people including 4 developers that love to code and play sports. We love C++ and Star Trek as much as we like draining 20 foot jumpers. Everyone on the team resides in the LA area and the majority of the team are current or former Bruins. Our CEO Dean Pagonis is fond of cheese, and is no stranger to running tournaments..When he isn’t working on Beat Your Record our CTO Damien Sutevski literally cools nuclear fusion reactors as part of his work as a Mechanical Engineering PhD. The company’s COO Harsh Jain is an expert on video and a regional ping pong champion in India.
A scaled down version of the app is currently available for Android here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BeatYourRecord
