Leads employees and volunteers delivering disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and relief services. Builds volunteer capacity, coordinates community engagement and partnerships, manages regional disaster operations, and serves as a subject matter expert. The role requires collaboration across a matrixed organization, occasional out-of-region disaster deployment, work outside regular hours, and meeting physical and training requirements.

Lead daily operations of the Immunohematology Reference Lab, manage and develop staff, ensure regulatory and quality compliance (AABB/ASHI, CFR, OSHA), coordinate test implementation and QC, participate in rare donor programs, oversee inventory and potential manufacturing of special blood products, manage budgets and training, and travel nationally as required.

Develop and expand relationships with blood drive sponsors in emerging communities; design and execute strategic market plans; manage stakeholder relationships; analyze data and prepare recommendations; support communications, proposals, and contract negotiations; lead volunteer engagement and operational improvements; provide transportation for business travel.

Supervise nightly Quality Control lab operations at a blood center, perform 100% record review and batch release, troubleshoot discrepancies, manage proficiency testing, participate in validation and training, and perform bench work (~40%) on the night shift.

Develop and execute sponsor partnership strategies to maximize blood drive collections. Recruit, sell to, manage, and retain sponsor partners and Blood Program Leaders. Support scheduling, tracking, data analysis, and reporting. Maintain strong communication with sponsors, apply market knowledge to drive penetration, and recommend improvements to tools and processes. Provide volunteer support and ensure operational execution to meet collection goals.
