Leads opto-mechanical engineering for ophthalmic diagnostic and visualization medical devices. Responsibilities include optical and mechanical system design, modeling, tolerance analysis, prototyping, testing, validation, risk management, design controls, manufacturing transition, and cross-functional technical leadership. The role requires expertise in optics, imaging, illumination, precision mechanisms, materials, optical alignment, medical device compliance, and tools such as CREO, ANSYS, MATLAB, ZEMAX, and Windchill.

Designs and develops opto-mechanical systems for ophthalmic diagnostic and visualization surgical instruments. Responsibilities include lens housing and barrel design, optical alignment, tolerance analysis, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, fixtures, documentation, risk assessment, design controls, and transition to manufacturing. Collaborates with optics, mechanical, electrical, software, quality, industrial design, and manufacturing teams while supporting medical device development and production release.

Mechanical and biomedical engineering interns will support real-world projects involving CAD design, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, mechanical assembly, laboratory testing, injection molding, metrology, custom laboratory equipment, and automated measurement systems. Interns will collaborate with engineering professionals, develop technical skills, and contribute to process improvement and product development during a 10–12-week summer program.
