There are a lot of guesses about what AI can do.
AI is used by astronomers to find distant nebulas and map the galaxy, according to Forbes.
The city of Toledo has worked with a nonprofit to use AI to identify lead pipes, as one Wired story notes, so the city can replace them.
It’s likely that doctors will rely more heavily on AI to make diagnoses and compile healthcare data that is often incomplete or dispersed.
AI will likely play a role in both contributing to and identifying solutions to climate change.
However, when it comes to AI in business decisions, there are some practical ways that large language models are playing an important role. There are businesses that are using LLMs to help train employees to respond to customer problems. GitHub uses LLMs to suggest code to developers.
And HG Insights has used AI for more than a decade to help customers analyze and better understand the data that they might already have — all with the objective of making smarter sales and marketing decisions.
Built In Los Angeles spoke with an HG Insight data scientist to learn more about what the team is using AI to do next — and why she loves building it.
HG Insights is an IT company that helps global B2B companies use data to analyze markets and target prospects.
What’s the coolest project you are working on as a data scientist at HG Insights?
The coolest project I'm currently immersed in at HG Insights involves LLMs. Through fine-tuning a LLM with our contextual data, we’re creating something tailored specifically to our unique needs and challenges.
What makes this project truly captivating is its potential impact across our organization. Once deployed, our LLM could revolutionize how we interact with data, streamline decision-making processes and unlock new avenues for innovation and strategic insights.
What excites you about the work you’re doing?
What excites me the most as a data scientist is the ability to uncover hidden patterns and insights from vast amounts of data, transforming them into solutions that can make a real difference for our customers. The technology we use — like advanced machine learning algorithms and big data platforms — is constantly evolving, keeping me at the forefront of innovation.
