What made you want to compete in Venture Pong? Tell us more about your company and what is you do.
We are a very early stage company and we wanted to meet others who are making it happen in LA. The rumr team grew out of another Silicon Beach company textPlus who we are very close with. We are building a product called rumr. It is not in the market yet, but you can get on our waiting list at https://www.rumrapp.com. We are building an app that allows you to communicate anonymously with people that you know. Stayed tuned for more from us very soon.
Do you feel like the event was an overall success?
We had a great time at the event and would definitely recommend it to other companies. We met companies working in many different spaces so its always good to connect with others outside of your bubble. We would definitely compete again and we need to defend our title.
Is the sponsor package you won helpful? Do you see yourself utilizing it?
As we are an early stage company, it likely will be helpful to us. We haven’t used any of the prizes yet, but we don’t have a office space and will likely use the free month. Nearing a launch date, I think having a solid PR firm taking a look at what we are doing will be a benefit to us.
How is VP different from other events? Would you advise others to attend if it were a series?
I enjoyed it because it was not just a networking event or a mixer which I tend to avoid. Everyone has fun playing beer pong, so it really is a good way to get to know people. Its something thats pretty active so you aren’t just standing around either. I would absolutely tell people they should go to at least one and see for themselves.
