On Tuesday, health tech startup Digital Pharmacist announced it closed a $6.5 million Series B, co-led by Austin VC LiveOak Partner Ventures and NYC’s Activate Venture Partners. The funding will be used to build out additional patient communication tools and accelerate market adoption. This is the startup’s second investment from the local VC firm, following 2015’s $5.7 million Series A. [Built In Austin]

The Austin startup Everfest, led by serial entrepreneur Jay Manickam, closed a $3.6 million Series A late last week. Local VC ATX Seed Ventures and Live Nation Entertainment co-led the round, which also saw participation from Red Frog Events (Firefly Music Festival), Chip Conley (Airbnb, Joie de Vivre Hotels, Burning Man) and Bob Kagle (Benchmark Capital). The new funding will be used for growing the company’s product, development and marketing teams as they prep to scale the Everfest Premium program. [Built In Austin]

HomeAway’s former Chief Services Officer Jeff Mosler has joined the Main Street Hub team as the company’s COO. In his role, Mosler will oversee all customer operations, including content, onboarding, and customer success. Prior to HomeAway, Mosler worked at Amazon and Microsoft, where he led operations. On Monday, Austin-based Edgecase announced it has been acquired by Toronto’s GroupBy Inc. Edgecase’s platform optimizes product attribute data, while GroupBy’s e-commerce solutions help drive targeted site traffic to online retailers. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed; however, per the deal, Edgcase’s office will become GroupBy’s new US headquarters. [Press Release]

Serial entrepreneur Mike Maples Jr. raised a $1 million round of funding from three investors for his startup, Poquito Inc. This marks the company's second seed funding, following November’s $850,000 round.
