USC partners with GoPro

GoPro announced late last week that they have agreed on a content partnership with the USC School of Cinematic Arts. LA gets another on-demand car wash service

Time Inc. acquires LA-based HelloGiggles

Time Inc. acquired HelloGiggles, the pop-culture, beauty and lifestyle website led by Zooey Deschanel that promotes a positive community for women. The acquisition is Time Inc.’s latest move in a series of digital ventures, as the publishing company has been investing in small, high-growth digital entities in order to appeal to millennial audiences. Match Group Inc. files for IPO

In a move that has long been anticipated, Tinder-owner Match Group Inc. filed for an initial public offering this week. The filing details that $100 million worth of shares will be offered reportedly on the NASDAQ under the ticker code MTCH. Techstars and Cedars-Sinai launch healthcare startup accelerator 

The West Hollywood-based hospital announced they have partnered with Techstars to create a three-month program for entrepreneurs in the global healthcare industry. The new accelerator, launching in March 2016, marks Techstar's 10th corporate program and will provide funding, mentorship and guidance from the two companies' vast list of influencers. DigiTour Media, $10 million

Investors: Viacom, LionTree and Slow Ventures

Although not officially disclosed, Re/code reported that DigiTour Media took in a $10 million investment led by Viacom this week. DigiTour Media is an event and concert company that utilizes the fame of internet celebrities. The investment will give Viacom a seat on the companies board of directors. Kaleo Software, $7 million

Investors: OMERS Ventures, Saturn Partners, Karlin Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Double M Partners and Greycroft Partners

Kaleo is an El Seguno-based enterprise cloud platform for capturing and sharing employee expertise. Phil Hui-Bon-Hoa, who founded the company in 2012, said in a statement that the funding will be used for product innovation and customer acquisition. 

Science 37, $6.5 million

Investors: Lux Capital and dRx Capital

Investors: Wavemaker Partners, Talmadge O'Neill and Harry Tsao of Mezi Media, and Tamim Mourad of PriceGrabber.

The Pasadena-based company creates creates business management software for solo entrepreneurs. The company targets such solopreneurs as photographers, developers, interior designers, consultants and others with their administrative processes.
