As the new year approaches, a handful of Los Angeles tech companies are embracing change by appointing new executives to their leadership teams. Here’s a snapshot of the tech leaders that got new positions in December.
X1 creates e-discovery and GRC software for legal and IT professionals. This month the company opened a new LA headquarters and announced its plans for expansion. Part of this included the addition of Georges Sabongui as Chief Commercial Officer. Sabongui is the co-founder of wine producer Apriori Cellar and the former VP of Global Sales at Thin Film Electronics.
Along with George Sabongui, X1 also announced the promotion of Nick Torrecillas to VP of Products. Torrecillas has worked at X1 for eight years. He most recently was X1’s Director of Products and Development — a position he held for more than three years.
Jody Mulkey has been involved in the LA tech scene for a while. He worked at Shopzilla for 14 years, was the CTO of Ticketmaster and has invested in several other startups. Now he holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at GoodRX — an online platform that helps people get their prescription medications.
Influential is a company that pairs companies with social media influencers for marketing purposes. It uses AI-powered social data and conversion technology and a network of over one million influencers. As EVP of Strategic Partnerships, Cody Irizarry will help manage Influential’s strategic partnership with William Morris Endeavor, where he formerly served as a talent agent.
Inspire is an energy startup that’s building a consumer-focused clean power platform. The company has been rapidly growing recently, and to support this growth it appointed David Crane to its board. Crane has more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector and was previously the President and CEO of NRG Energy — another sustainable energy company.
Andrew Beebe is also joining Inspire as a board member. Beebe was previously the CCO and VP of Global Product Strategy at Suntech, as well as the VP of Distributed Generation for Nextera Energy. He is also a Managing Director of Obvious Ventures — a VC firm that is geared towards helping sustainable businesses make an impact.
