Your smartphone can say a lot about who you are. Whether it's the obscure apps you've downloaded, the way you organize your screen, or the 643 unread emails glaring back at you, we've all developed different ways to get the most out of our phones.
We sat down with three Los Angeles-based CEOs to see what apps get them through the day and which ones they actively avoid:

What app(s) on your phone could you not live without?
I use LinkedIn, Slack, Waze, Coin and Amazon every single day. I use LinkedIn to recruit talent and stay connected with my network; Slack to communicate with my team and (attempt to) keep my email inbox light; Waze to save time and avoid traffic (especially in LA!); Coin for all my meals and daily purchases; and Amazon for everything from books to home purchases and office supplies.
What useful app(s) are on your phone that you wouldn't expect to see on someone else's?
I use the Headspace app once or twice per week,

which is a great app that guides you through timed meditations. I find it very helpful on really long days or weeks to clear my mind and think through my goals for the following week or month.
What app(s) did you delete or refuse to download?
Candy Crush was an app I refused to download. I had a lot of friends who are addicted to playing it, but it's just not my thing to spend hours on end playing a video game on my own. I'd much rather read a good book or focus on exciting work projects.
What app is your guilty pleasure?
When I'm together with my family, we love playing the game "Heads Up!" together, which is a digital version of charades. It's a guaranteed fun time and we always end the game laughing hysterically!

Patrick Maloney, CEO Inspire Energy
What app(s) on your phone could you not live without?
Evernote, which helps me organize my thoughts, keep track of important notes, and manage critical action items; Google Hangouts, which allows me to stay in constant face-to-face contact with our bi-coastal team; LinkedIn, which is my recruiting tool of choice; TaskRabbit, which saves me hours of high effort, low value work; and Hotel Tonight, which enables me to travel lean and take meetings as they arise.

What useful app(s) are on your phone that you wouldn't expect to see on someone else's?
Scannable, which essentially removes the need to ever use a physical scanner again.
What app(s) did you delete or refuse to download?
I'll use social media to stay current and track trends, but I prefer to keep applications like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter off of my business devices. They are rarely the highest and best of use of my time.
What app is your guilty pleasure?
Podcasts. If I could, I would listen to podcasts all day.

Field Garthwaite, CEO IRIS.TV
What app(s) on your phone could you not live without?
Slack and Asana. We are a video SaaS business that has to service some of the largest media companies globally and work with multiple departments so ensuring we have clear communication and customer service is a must.
What useful app(s) are on your phone that you wouldn't expect to see on someone else's?
Soundhound is an app I don't see often, but they are great for new music.
What app(s) did you delete or refuse to download?

I have not and won't download Facebook's app and I often turn off location preferences for Waze and anyone else who tracks your location at all times. You should be in control and be aware of what data is being generated and created by your device, even if the app is free or ad supported, there should be a limit on what data can be collected.
What app is your guilty pleasure?
Guilty pleasure is video. Snapchat is doing very interesting work moving mobile a bit closer to TV and building viewership. IRIS.TV turns video into TV so it makes work more enjoyable when you QA new releases on some of your favorite sites/apps.
