A little more than 26 miles outside of downtown Los Angeles, you’ll find the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland.

To become a tangible embodiment of happiness, Disney curates lifetime memories for visitors: encounters with their favorite characters, magical attractions and immersive experiences that bring Disney’s famed movies and shows to life.

It’s hard to keep up with a place that brings that much joy to people every day. But six LA tech companies are doing that with their benefits. While they might not offer a magical adventure, they do offer perks that are meaningful on a different level, like pet-friendly offices, so employees don’t have to be without their best friend during the workday, and 401(k) matches to help team members plan for an adventure-filled future. Plus, plenty of time off to enjoy magical real-world experiences.

You might not find princesses or talking mice at Medely, Pardon, Million Dollar Baby Co., Invoca and Omaze, but you will find spaces for employees to do their best work and to enjoy their lives outside of it. Built In LA found out more.

What they do: Medely is a labor marketplace for short- and long-term healthcare jobs. Through Medely, healthcare professionals can access high-paying jobs and maintain freedom and flexibility to work on their own schedule and location.

The perks:

  • Three weeks vacation and 10 paid holidays
  • Casual dress
  • 401(k) company match
  • Wellness programs
  • Remote work program

Caring for medical professionals and patients: Medely recently brought on a new vice president of product: Ashu Manohar. “There is a massive shortage of health professionals in our country, which leads to overwork and burnout for them and ultimately affects the quality of patient care,” Manohar said in a press release. His role will focus on developing and delivering solutions to empower Medely’s customers and users, and he’s doing it with a dedicated team. “Everyone I meet on the team is supremely talented, passionate and humble at the same time, and I’m energized by everything we can build together to make a dent in this problem.”

What they do: Nobody puts baby in a poorly-designed crib. Especially at Million Dollar Baby Co., which offers children’s furnishings that range in style, aesthetic and price point. The company partners with retailers like Target and Crate & Barrel and offers eco-conscious designs.

The perks:

  • An adoption assistance program reimburses up to $20,000 of qualified adoption expenses
  • Hybrid work program: employees work in-person two days per week
  • $240 annual wellness subsidy
  • 401(k) match
  • Pet friendly

Million-dollar workplace: Million Dollar Baby Co. ranked third on Fortune’s 2022 30 Best Small and Medium Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production. Ninety-six percent of employees said it’s a great place to work — that’s compared to 57 percent of employees at typical companies in the U.S.

What they do: Invoca has an AI-powered conversation intelligence platform that analyzes speech during sales, marketing and customer service calls to provide data-driven insights about customer needs. That helps enterprise teams to best understand and act immediately on the information customers share.

The perks:

  • Pet friendly
  • Home office stipend for remote employees
  • 12 weeks paid leave for childbirth or medical need
  • 20 vacation days, plus 13 paid holidays, five sick days and three volunteer days
  • WorkLifeMatters Program for well-being support

If it’s broke, fix it: In June, Invoca reached unicorn status after it raised $83 million in its Series F round. “Invoca solves a critical problem for businesses — the broken customer experience,” Gregg Johnson, CEO of Invoca, told Built In. “Invoca’s technology enables revenue teams to better understand the end-to-end consumer buying experience and immediately act on the information consumers share via phone conversations.”

What they do: Pardon is a family office and venture studio that oversees and backs the entrepreneurial endeavors, curatorial and artistic pursuits and investment portfolio of Nicholas Pardon.

The perks:

  • Unlimited vacation
  • 401(k) company match
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Wellness programs
  • Performance bonuses

“We strongly believe in collaboration and communication,” Chief Financial Officer Liz Barhydt previously told Built In. “To be successful on this team there must be a shared belief in the mission and vision of what we are creating. And alignment on the part we each play to accomplish it together.”

What they do: When people donate to the causes they believe in through Omaze’s fundraising platform, they’re entered to win experiences like trips and celebrity meet-and-greets. Omaze covers marketing, content and tech for their nonprofit partners so they can focus on driving change.

The perks:

  • Unlimited paid time off, including the last Friday of every month
  • Flexible schedule
  • Documented equal pay policy
  • Pet insurance
  • Pet friendly office

We’re all in this together: At Omaze, it’s important for employees to align with the core virtues that shape the company’s culture. Vice President of Creative and Brand Brad Spychalski previously told Built In that he seeks candidates “who live by a ‘we before me’ mentality: the idea of putting the greater good ahead of self interest while making clear commitments and honoring them.” Beyond values, Spychalski keeps his eye out for potential team members who feel comfortable working at the intersection of media and creativity and who have a solutions-first mindset.
