From AI-powered healthcare solutions to AR-based art innovations, several innovative LA companies announced news about their platforms last week. Learn more in this week’s Built In LA Weekly Refresh. 

App developer 9count secured $6M. The company behind friend-matching app Wink and dating platform Summer raised funds from existing investors to add onto its previously-announced $21.5 million Series A raise. In addition to building out its 35-person team, 9count will invest in marketing for Summer ahead of its launch on Android next month. [TechCrunch]

Avenda Health raised $10M. Developing an AI-powered solution to modernize prostate cancer treatment, Avenda secured Series B funding led by VCapital to enhance its platform. Its technology provides surgeons with a 3D map of a patient’s tumor, enabling them to perform more precise removal. The funding will help grow Avenda’s capabilities and its team across engineering and deep learning science. [Built In LA]

ADLAR Studio launched its first collection. The publishing studio specializes in fine art prints brought to life using augmented reality tech. KitchData was featured in the Future 5 series. The software developer partners with celebrities to launch uniquely branded virtual food brands. Brick-and-mortar kitchens within KitchData’s partner network prepare the food and benefit from brands’ additional revenue stream. The company is in the midst of building out Web3 capabilities that will connect celebrities’ fanbases with exclusive opportunities through their brands. [Built In LA]

Cosm to open public LA venue. Cosm develops domed and compound curved LED tech that lets guests experience immersive content, from live sports to art and music. The company is renting out space in the Hollywood Park development that will feature a LED dome that is 26.6 meters in diameter within a 65,000-square-foot facility large enough for 1,700 guests. CareRev is one of Y Combinator’s top companies. Startup accelerator Y Combinator announced its 2022 list of its fastest-growing startups. The list features private and acquired companies valued at $150 million or more as of July 31, 2022, and is sorted by valuation. CareRev, a company dedicated to connecting healthcare workers to flexible, local shifts, ranked #120 on its list of the top privately-held companies. [Y Combinator]
