When dining out, it’s not uncommon for people to question what takes their food so long to arrive at the table. Odds are, the restaurant itself has asked similar questions whilst awaiting ingredients from its supplier. Just like a kitchen, the B2B food industry is a bustling sector with orders pouring in from every direction. Looking to keep this fast-paced space as streamlined as possible, Fresho offers an online ordering solution for chefs everywhere.

Fresho works similarly to an e-commerce platform. Using any device, restaurants can view live info on current wholesale foods prices, who’s having a special and which products are available. From there they can place their order. On the suppliers side, these orders appear on an online dashboard where they’re then converted into picking slips that help them fulfill orders. Suppliers can also manage things like pricing levels and product weight.

Fresho secured $10 million in new capital to expand its solution’s reach overseas. Based in the U.K., the company is growing its presence there as well as opening a U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles. A variety of investors contributed to these growth plans, including Primorus Investments, Capital Zed and early Canva investor Andrew Sypkes.

“Like our other markets, restaurants and suppliers in the U.S. are itching to be more progressive but still working with antiquated processes such as email, phone calls, WhatsApp and even the old fax machine,” James Andronis, Fresho’s co-founder and managing director, said in a statement. “B2B food supply chains are changing at a rapid rate around the world with an increased focus on efficiency and lowering waste. We understand the industry and our tech solves key pain points for these businesses.”

Built to make food supply chains more sustainable between restaurants and suppliers, the platform serves more than 38,000 foodservice venues across the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. On average every year, Fresho sees more than $1 billion processed through its platform. Businesses from restaurants and hotels to hospitals and schools use Fresho’s solution.

As it continues to fuel this momentum of growth, Fresho is building out its U.S.-based team, the company told Built In via email. Fresho is hiring for LA-based roles across sales, software development, CX and marketing with a target headcount of 15 by the end of the year.
