As the world has been ushered into a new era of remote and hybrid work, companies are coming up against the challenge of ensuring their employees can have worthwhile collaborations, even when they’re miles apart. With this issue in mind, Parabol set out to create a way to keep team members engaged and on the same page with its digital meeting platform.

On Tuesday, the enterprise software startup announced it closed on an $8 million Series A round led by Microsoft’s M12. Its product provides a way for remote agile teams to hold structured yet engaging discussions. It also allows remote and distributed workers to participate in team activities whenever they’re able.

Parabol includes solutions for several types of meetings, including retrospectives and check-ins. Its newest feature, Sprint Poker, allows participants to fairly contribute to project estimation with a deck of virtual cards. This tool integrates with Jira’s project management software. By integrating with this app and others like Slack and Github, Parabol’s platform is able to automatically capture and summarize meeting output for every person in attendance.

The company plans to put the fresh capital toward meeting customer demand for more agile meeting types, as well as adding new enterprise features. Parabol is also celebrating its achievement of 100,000 registered users worldwide across 3,000 different enterprises. Companies including Groupon, Etsy, Nike and AT&T use the company’s software.

“We’re proud to have helped so many organizations move their Agile development processes online during this pandemic,” Jordan Husney, CEO and co-founder of Parabol, said in a statement. “We believe nearly every user of backlog management systems — such as Microsoft DevOps, GitHub, Atlassian Jira, GitLab, and Clubhouse — will use an application to facilitate meeting activities atop these systems. With new resources at our disposal, Parabol will establish the ‘agile meeting platform’ category and lead it.”

As it works to make remote work as efficient as possible for companies across the globe, LA-based Parabol is recruiting additional talent to its team. Currently, the startup lists 10 fully remote positions on its website for roles in development, growth, marketing and more.
