No two workers are alike. That’s why Los Angeles’ tech companies are designing workspaces to reflect the versatility of their workforce. Whether you’re an outgoing social butterfly or a heads-down worker bee, today’s tech offices will have the right environment for you to thrive.

We caught up with a few of LA’s media companies to learn more about the inspiration behind their own office design plans.

Hawke Media is a full-service marketing consultancy that provides outsourced chief marketing officer duties for clients.

Workplace Operations Coordinator Lauren Makielski is passionate about the team’s workspace, which was designed with collaboration in mind. Employees can work across channels with cool features like a stage — where many Hawke Media stars are born — and a loft-like space for employees to zen out.

What was the most important thing to you in designing the space?

As our CEO Erik Huberman and COO Tony Delmercado were developing plans for the space, collaboration was key. Our previous space felt less like an office and more like a succession of disjointed suites across a complex building on different floors. We needed a space that could foster more connections between our different channels and offer enough wiggle room to keep things private when needed.

We have a large multipurpose stage in the center of our building, and it's definitely the favorite spot among our employees.”

What feature of your office do employees love the most and why?

We have a large multipurpose stage in the center of our building, and it's definitely the favorite spot among our employees. Part of the stage is raised with a trellis above it, giving people a loft-like view of the office that's quiet and cozy — thanks to giant bean bags! The stage is a great space for all-hands meetings, presentations and our monthly happy hours.

Maple Media is a media and technology company that acquires top mobile apps and games on Google Play and the App Store.

Chief Operating Officer David Bos is excited to share the team’s new 2,100-square-foot office, which is nestled on the eleventh floor of a landmark Century City high rise. Not only is the actual office space a great place for teams to meet and be inspired, but the office location also boasts spectacular city views, a nearby weekly farmer’s market and tons of happy hour-friendly restaurants and bars.

What was the most important thing to you in designing the space?

We aimed to showcase the iconic attributes of the different mobile apps and games that we've acquired. We are building a portfolio of mobile app companies, and we purchase a new company about every month. For example, our “We Heart It” team has a dedicated office space — designed with help from Urban Outfitters and Gray Malin — that embraces the style of the social media platform.

Whenever we acquire a new company, it's a huge moment for our team. To celebrate, we add the icons of the newly acquired apps to the main wall in our office.”

Whenever we acquire a new company, it's a huge moment for our team. To celebrate, we add the icons of the newly acquired apps to the main wall in our office. The wall features our biggest mobile apps and games, including “We Heart It,” “Tony Hawk's Skate Jam,” and “Mazes & More.” The celebrations don’t end there. We also venture out for a team happy hour or offsite event.
