Cornerstone OnDemand

Danielle Melendy, talent development partner, on...

The program: At Cornerstone, interns don’t do coffee runs. Our interns drive innovation and change by collaborating and working with our team on real-time projects. Interns spend the majority of their time working one-on-one with their mentor on department-specific assignments. There are weekly intern development opportunities, where our interns meet as a group for Lunch and Learns focused on learning and navigating Cornerstone, professional development, and interview prep. Interns are also encouraged to participate in our Intern Hackathon, a competition designed to experiment with innovative ideas that can be introduced into Cornerstone and our products.

While at our office headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., you will be able to enjoy our yoga center, movie theater, arcade, ping-pong and foosball tables, candy wall, and massage services. We also provide our team with free breakfasts, lunches and snacks to keep you fueled throughout the day. At the end of the program, our interns take a trip to Santa Monica Beach for the afternoon to celebrate the completion of the program.

Whom Cornerstone OnDemand is looking for: We are looking for college seniors, graduate students, or students participating in skills training courses like General Assembly, ideally looking for a full-time opportunity after the internship. Cornerstone offers paid internships across every department including technology, design, talent, marketing, consulting services, finance, product, and sales.

How to apply: Apply at www.csod.com/careers, search by “internship” function for open opportunities.

Omaze

Briana Darensburg, talent and culture coordinator, on…

The program: Our internship program is unique because we encourage creative freedom and offer real work experience. Our interns are really working at an entry-level pace and add incredible value to our company. Many departments have expressed that they would not be able to operate without their interns. Our business relies on interns because they are generally the most involved in pop culture and offer a perspective that is critical to the success of our campaigns.

Interns can expect an adventurous three months with our company. One day they could be on set helping shoot a dog wedding video with John Legend, the next day they could be facilitating a team-wide brainstorm about what shit to blow up with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Interns can expect to gain career-launching experience and relationships that will open doors to their next full-time opportunity. We have bi-weekly Lunch and Learns where a full-time employee shares their career journey and advice to interns only. It's a fantastic way for interns to find a mentor in their field, ask any questions they want, and of course, socialize with all of the interns.

Whom Omaze is looking for: We provide the following departments with at least one intern: campaigns, business development, social media, talent and culture, product, tech, data science, fulfillment, and design. There is not a minimum year in school. However, we do require that candidates have completed at least one internship.

Spokeo

Vanessa Flores Waite, director of public relations and community initiatives, on…

The program: Each intern is immersed in our company culture and contributes to a project that is integral to Spokeo and will be seen by the actual public. One of the projects the interns from last year completed was a website called freepeopledirectory.com that is still up and running. They also built the blog for our newly launched family tree building product Family.me.

We also provide housing, competitive pay, social outings, and build lifetime mentors and friendships.

Whom Spokeo is looking for: Spokeo typically hires sophomores or juniors who are computer science/software engineering majors. Previous internship experience is a plus.

How to apply: We post the openings for our interns on the Spokeo careers page in August. We will start accepting applications early fall (candidates are able to apply via Spokeo as well as through their school job boards). We will also be attending various career fairs to meet the students in person.

ZestFinance

Jenny Galitz McTighe, VP of communications and public affairs, on…

The program: The internship program at ZestFinance gives interns the opportunity to experience a fast-paced, fun and collaborative startup environment while working on real projects that will be implemented into our products. Interns will work alongside our software engineers in a paired programming setting where they will be provided real-time feedback and mentoring. They will gain experience developing and/or updating new or existing features, services and tools for our product suite, researching and creating prototypes for potential new features, working as a development team member, and assisting in the completion of projects that are currently in progress.

Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to be part of ZestFinance’s energetic, collaborative culture, including catered lunches and snacks, fun events and outings including ping-pong tournaments, game nights, and professional development experiences designed specifically for interns.
