Reports to the Controller; no direct reports
How you’ll stand out as a candidate:
We’re looking for someone who is highly-motivated and intentional in helping the Accounting team meet its objectives. You have knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding payroll, compensation, and taxation. In addition to our US employee base, we have employees in Canada.
You have held roles in other multi-state organizations as a primary payroll resource with at least 150 employees across the country. ADP knowledge will be clear, evident, and demonstrable in your experience and resume. You will be able to speak clearly and thoughtfully about the AP systems you’ve used or helped develop in the past. bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and deep experience with our payroll provider, ADP.
You’ll assist ChowNow’s Controller in receiving, recording and processing accounts payables, and preparing Budget to Actuals each month. We have important vendor relationships that you’ll help support, including Apple, CDW, and Salesforce, as well as capital lease providers. Your primary duties will include reviewing and reimbursing sales reps and other employees using Expensify, as well as coding those expenses to appropriate GL accounts. You’ll have similar duties to review and code transactions put on our corporate credit cards.
Within one month, you'll:- Complete our ChowNow onboarding (Ramp Camp)
- Learn the ins and outs about ChowNow and our product
- Process your first two payrolls including one commission cycle
- Audit our benefit payment systems and ensure payment process/cycle is accurately documented
- Shadow each department for an in depth look into how each team plays their part
- Complete training with our IT Team, our Accounting Team, and People + Culture team to learn how to access and use all internal tools, including Google Apps, Slack, Dropbox, ChowNow Admin, ADP, Zenefits, Expensify
- Assist in processing coding expense reimbursements to employee and in your first coding of company credit card transactions
Within three months, you'll:- Assist in the creation of effective workflow processes
- Take more responsibility for billing processes in order to increase the team's bandwidth
- Create standard monthly payroll and benefits auditing system ensuring checks and balances between Accounting and People + Culture team
- Create systems to ensure state and Federal compliance filings
- Audit current ADP setup to ensure best practices are in place and summarize for team
Within six months, you'll:- Document process and implement for end-of-year payroll and AP processes
- Fully owning expense reimbursement and coding as well as credit card transaction coding
- Working with the Controller and VP of Finance to generate analyses of the company based on payroll and expense data that you’ll provide
