The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will develop tooling and automation solutions for manufacturing, collaborating with teams to enhance production for Terran vehicles and Aeon engines.

Lead a team of engineers on valves and fluid systems design, development, testing, and production, while mentoring and managing projects.

Own technical delivery for complex laser powder bed fusion hardware: print programming, build preparation, process specification, qualification, failure investigations, verification plans, and manufacturing execution. Lead cross-functional investigations, drive production recoveries and corrective actions, mentor junior engineers, and represent PBF in program reviews and supplier discussions to scale aerospace flight hardware production.

Develop and implement manufacturing processes for fluids systems hardware, build and validate bending and welding work cells, create assembly work orders and mBOMs, design tooling, author work instructions and test procedures, optimize production systems, and support manufacturing scale-up while ensuring quality, safety, and reliability.

Lead build preparation, print programming, and manufacturing execution for PBF hardware. Provide DfAM feedback, maintain controlled process documentation, investigate nonconformances, coordinate cross-functional production activities, evaluate process changes, analyze production/quality data, create tooling and dashboards to improve throughput, mentor junior staff, and represent PBF engineering in technical reviews and risk discussions.

Lead a team of engineers to build flight-ready mechanisms and integrated subassemblies, manage cross-functional efforts, and provide technical leadership to optimize production processes.
