POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Looking for U.S. citizens with strong academic background and prior experience in research and analysis focused on Yemen. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to join the Hoplite Group team, in our flagship Publicly Available Information atmospherics project, focusing on public sentiments and media analysis specific to Yemen. The position is responsible for the daily correlation of media information, triangulation of reporting, and production of analytical reports. If you are an analyst interested in specializing in Yemen, this is the perfect opportunity.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. citizen with three (3) years of combined academic and professional experience of Publicly Available Information research and analysis covering Yemen.
- Bachelors or Masters Degrees in something related to the Middle East or Yemen specifically is a must or commensurate professional experience for 3-5 years focused on Yemen and/or region.
- Demonstrated experience and exposure to Yemen, with an understanding of the security, social/cultural, and political dimensions.
- Experience conducting publicly available information research, including media analysis and/or social media analysis.
- Excellent writing and communications skills, able to produce finalized written products and deliverables, ready to send to clients.
- Experience with open geospatial apps is a plus (e.g. Google Earth, Arc GIS, etc.).
- High-level proficiency (to allow speed when producing deliverables) using Microsoft Office tools; specifically, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and project management to be able to leverage a team of analysts and build reports on time while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Works well with teams or independently, with minimal oversight, able to provide thorough and completed products. Feels comfortable working with local nationals and managing local national teams of analysts.
- Must be eligible for a Department of Defense Secret clearance.
DESIRED:
- Recent travels: Worked / traveled in the last few years to Yemen or the surrounding region.
- Experience with population surveys and focus groups.
- Arabic language proficiency is a strong advantage.
- Experience working by, with, through local national teammates.
