What you’ll do:

  • Configure and maintain payroll deductions and withholdings including payroll tax withholdings, benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k), garnishments, and equity compensation (RSU vesting, tax withholdings, and sell-to-cover processing) for domestic and international employees
  • Support administration of Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules for global operations, including system configuration, business process configuration, integration support, and bi-annual feature release testing
  • Assist with CloudPay global payroll platform maintenance and support integration with Workday Time & Absence for accurate time tracking, leave management, and multi-state and international payroll processing
  • Support SOX compliance including regular reporting, access reviews, audit trail documentation, and compliance with country-specific payroll requirements and statutory reporting
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll and time tracking system issues, partnering with global payroll operations and finance teams to test and implement system enhancements and process improvements
  • Provide end-user support, training, and documentation for payroll and time systems, ensuring employees and managers can effectively navigate Workday functionality
  • Collaborate with payroll leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and assist in designing new payroll features and configurations

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or related field with 3+ years of hands-on Workday administration experience in Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence modules
  • Strong Workday configuration experience including security, business processes, reporting, and demonstrated experience processing payroll tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and equity compensation (RSU vesting, tax withholdings, sell-to-cover transactions)
  • Solid experience with Workday Time Tracking and Absence configuration including time entry rules, absence plans, time off accruals, and integration with payroll
  • Exposure to global or multi-country payroll operations and multi-state payroll processing; experience with CloudPay or similar global payroll platforms preferred
  • Experienced in Workday Report Writer with ability to create custom reports, calculated fields, and dashboards for payroll analysis and compliance
  • Familiarity in SOX compliance controls, audit processes, and documentation requirements for payroll
  • Experience with ticketing systems (JIRA, ServiceNow), Agile methodologies, payroll integrations, and third-party payroll vendors
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills with ability to prioritize competing demands, work across time zones, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Payroll, Finance, HR, and IT

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
