Workday Certified Financials Senior Consultant – Specializing in Record to Report, FDM, and Financial Accounting 

As a Workday Certified Financials Senior Consultant with a specialization in Record to Report (R2R), Foundation Data Model (FDM), and Financial Accounting, you will lead successful Workday Financials implementations with a strong emphasis on optimizing financial close processes, structuring foundational data models, and ensuring compliance and accuracy within core accounting frameworks. You will mentor consultants, contribute to project delivery, and drive best practices across deployment teams and clients.

KEY FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Serve as a Workday Financials subject matter expert, with specific expertise in Record to Report (R2R) processes, including journal entries, allocations, consolidations, period closes, and financial reporting.
  • Lead or support end-to-end implementations by gathering business requirements, configuring solutions, prototyping, testing, and delivering knowledge transfer sessions -  specially focusing on Financial Accounting.
  • Conduct FDM (Foundation Data Model) design sessions to define and configure the Workday Chart of Accounts, organization hierarchies, and dimensions in alignment with financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with client teams to map and convert legacy data to Workday, ensuring data integrity and alignment with R2R processes and accounting structures.
  • Ensure functional configurations are fully compatible with integration points and downstream financial reporting, providing scenarios and test cases to support robust integration and automation.
  • Drive best practices in core accounting operations including accruals, intercompany accounting, allocations, and regulatory compliance across industries.
  • Guide clients in adopting Workday-native R2R capabilities and FDM structures to optimize close cycles, enhance audit readiness, and improve financial transparency.
  • Maintain awareness of system dependencies related to accounting rules and close processes, providing recommendations that optimize reporting and reconciliation workflows.

KEY TEAM EXPECTATIONS

  • Promote transparent communication and collaboration in multi-functional teams.
  • Mentor junior consultants on best practices for configuring Workday’s accounting modules and FDM for scalable, compliant solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in financial architecture and R2R process modeling, supporting project team members in solving complex accounting and reporting challenges.
  • Apply structured thinking and analytical skills to solve data modeling, financial close, and reporting issues.
  • Lead by example in promoting client success, innovation, and continuous learning.

 DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current Workday Certifications in Record to Report, FDM, and/or Foundation Data Model are required.
  • 4+ years of experience implementing financial systems with a focus on General Ledger, Financial Close, and Reporting.
  • Deep understanding of Record to Report workflows and the design and implementation of FDM within Workday or similar ERP systems.
  • CPA certification and/or an advanced degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Prior consulting experience with Workday, and SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex accounting requirements into scalable system designs.
  • Demonstrated project leadership in finance transformation or ERP implementation programs.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliverables in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, based on project needs.
