Candidates must live in Virginia and be able to drive to the Clifton Forge, VA location to collect your laptop. This is remote; however, attendance at a staff meeting in Clifton Forge, VA is required once every 45-60 days.

Job Overview:

This role will be pivotal in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing our Windows server environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration and configuration of Windows servers, ensuring high levels of availability, performance, and security for our systems and applications. You will collaborate with other IT team members to diagnose issues and implement solutions that align with best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and file/print services.
  • Implement security best practices and apply patches and updates to ensure the integrity of systems.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability of the server environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows servers and applications promptly.
  • Collaborate with application owners to support and enhance server-based applications.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and changes in a clear and comprehensive manner.
  • Assist with backup and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning efforts.
  • Provide technical support to end-users and assist with troubleshooting user issues as they arise.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Windows systems engineering or administration (Windows SME)
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019).
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Powershell scripting.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, VPN, and firewall configurations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues efficiently.
  • Strong documentation skills and a solid understanding of ITIL best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtual environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as MCSA or MCSE.
  • Experience with security and compliance frameworks.
