Sompo has a unique opportunity for a WFRP Claims Specialist in our West Region team.

As a Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) Claims Specialist will provide exceptional customer service to agents and producers by accurately and efficiently auditing and verifying WFRP Claims. You'll serve as an expert in areas of WFRP claims procedure and auditing. The WFRP Claims Specialist will also provide research and verification of claims/policy data, troubleshoot identified problems or issues, and train other staff as needed in the area of WFRP Claims.

 

Location: This position may be based remotely in Washington, California, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Kentucky, or Oregon, with consideration also given to candidates located in other U.S. state. What you’ll be doing:

  • Audit, review, and process WFRP claims accurately and timely in accordance with policy requirements, standard operating procedures, and regulatory guidelines

  • Research and resolve complex claims, policy, and system issues, including PASS errors, with limited supervision

  • Serve as a resource on WFRP claims procedures, policy interpretation, and related underwriting and claims processes

  • Partner with underwriters, adjusters, compliance staff, agents, and producers to resolve questions and support effective claim handling

  • Apply working knowledge of WFRP, MPCI, FCIC, NCIS, RMA, and related manuals, handbooks, and policy documentation to support claim decisions

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying system issues, assisting with training development, and helping implement process enhancements

  • Maintain knowledge of regional crops, farming practices, and internal procedures to support strong claims performance

  • Adapt to changing priorities, systems, and business needs while maintaining strong research quality and timely execution.

  • Travel as needed, up to 25%

What you’ll bring:

  • Advanced experience in MPCI underwriting, claims auditing, and/or claims processing required

  • 5+ years of MPCI or WFRP crop insurance experience preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of FCIC MPCI and WFRP policies, with the ability to interpret policy provisions and supporting documentation

  • Knowledge of IRS federal tax forms, company policies and procedures, and related claims or underwriting systems preferred

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well across all levels inside and outside the organization

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, adapt to change, and work effectively through complex issues

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

  • Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions

  • The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment.

  • Travel required for meetings and trainings.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
