The Executive Director, Global Corporate Development, will work directly with WEBTOON’s global top management to define, identify, analyze, and execute M&A/investment opportunities and strategic partnerships. This role is critical for driving WEBTOON’s rapid global expansion by actively pursuing both organic and inorganic growth opportunities. The ideal candidate must possess superior business acumen, strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to engage and partner with both internal and external stakeholders. This role will report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and partner closely with key stakeholders globally across Content, Operations, Product, Marketing as well as Korea and Japan teams. 

Key Responsibilioties

  • Lead, coordinate, and support all phases of the M&A, investment, and partnership process from sourcing and evaluating opportunities through to execution to accelerate WEBTOON entertainment’s growth trajectory while creating synergy with business partners. 
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to source, evaluate, and deliver strategic initiatives including M&A, investments, and partnerships—that expand the company’s growth pipeline and strengthen its market position.
  • Apply strong business acumen to translate strategic priorities into actionable business development targets, identifying growth opportunities and aligning cross-functional support to drive execution.
  • Conduct in-depth research on markets, competitors, and potential partners; maintain a strong external perspective; and form expert viewpoints on fast-evolving market trends.
  • Translate market insights and trends into actionable business development targets, identifying growth opportunities and aligning cross-functional support to drive execution.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with industry partners, startups, and investors as a key industry player and thought leader; represent the company at key industry events, conferences, and meetings to stay connected and develop new relationships in the media entertainment industry. 
  • Partner and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams (including content, product, operations, and marketing) to gain alignment, support, and secure internal resources to launch new business initiatives and execute strategic partnerships effectively. 

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in corporate M&A, strategy, partnership or strategic finance in relevant IP-driven sectors such as entertainment, media, content, gaming, digital streaming platforms and/or financial services such as Investment Banking, PE/VC, and M&A consulting firms. 
  • Strong knowledge of the US entertainment, content and media landscape.
  • Experience and exposure to the complete M&A lifecycle with hands on execution capabilities
  • Demonstrated excellent business acumen with proven track record of driving business forward as a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, including the capability to build complex financial models and executive-ready presentations to support decision-making.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. 
  • Willingness to be hands-on and deeply involved in execution details.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion. 
  • Adaptable, flexible, and resilient, someone who can remain calm and works well under pressure, in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
  • Results-oriented and driven, with a strong work ethic, high standards, meticulous attention to detail, and a conviction-led mindset.
  • Cross-border communication skills and high-cultural sensitivity to Korean culture and business practice. 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading the end-to-end process of M&A or large-scale strategic partnerships.
  • Experience in project management, relationship management, and change management.
  • An MBA and/or international experience is considered a plus.
