The opportunity
We want you to join Unity as a Web Operations Specialist (CMS), where you’ll turn our Sanity CMS into a true self-serve, scalable, and strategic tool. This role is all about mastering the CMS at both an operational and technical level, configuring schemas, optimizing workflows, and partnering with engineering to keep the system robust, while also empowering the marketing team to publish effectively.

In the short term, you’ll focus on resolving CMS issues, enabling self-serve publishing, and improving the efficiency of content operations. In the long term, you’ll drive strategic CMS initiatives, optimize architecture and integrations, and ensure the system can scale to meet Unity’s global needs.

By joining the Web Ops team, you’ll directly impact unity.com by enabling faster publishing, smoother collaboration, and stronger user experiences, while working closely with Engineering, Product Marketing, Design, and Localization partners.

What you'll be doing

  • Act as the subject-matter expert for our CMS, managing both operational workflows and technical configuration.
  • Lead strategic CMS projects, including workflow automation, schema design, and architecture improvements.
  • Configure and maintain CMS data models and content structures to support scalable publishing.
  • Troubleshoot CMS-related issues (including technical bugs, integrations, and permissions) and collaborate with Engineering when escalations are required.
  • Partner with Engineering, PMM/CMMs, Design, and Localization to ensure the CMS supports multi-language, global content delivery.
  • Design and deliver training and enablement programs to support self-serve publishing across Unity and maintain documentation
  • Continuously monitor and improve CMS performance to align with both business priorities and user experience.

What we're looking for

  • Strong, hands-on experience with CMS platforms (Sanity a plus), including schema configuration and workflow management.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, partnering with Engineering when deeper development is required.
  • Proven ability to make complex systems intuitive for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated balance of operational rigor and strategic thinking.
  • Clear and confident communicator with a collaborative, solutions-first mindset.

You might also have

  • Experience scaling CMS systems for multi-language, global content delivery.
  • Familiarity with localization workflows, automation, and integrations.
  • Background in content operations, digital publishing, or technical support.
  • A track record of creating documentation, tooling, or training that reduces friction and empowers teams.
  • A personality that thrives in fast-paced, detail-driven environments.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
