We’re helping world-class brands move at the speed of culture and are looking for a Vice President (VP), Social - Emerging Platforms to lead how our clients show up in the next era of social. 
 

This leader will bring deep expertise in community-driven ecosystems, such as Reddit, Discord, Twitch, Substack, and beyond, and translate platform-native behavior into business-driving strategies and activations.

The VP, Social – Emerging Platforms will partner with clients, creatives, analysts, and cross-functional leaders to deliver culturally resonant, brand-building work. You should have experience turning emerging platform dynamics into scalable, integrated programs across earned, owned, creator, and paid touchpoints. You should be comfortable developing and presenting forward-looking strategies and thought leadership to senior stakeholders.

You advocate for communities and understand how emerging platforms operate as behavior systems. You design strategies rooted in participation, credibility, and long-term value creation, with a clear perspective of how these environments shape trust, fandom, and the brand experience.

You are adept at not only identify emerging platforms, but also the underlying platform-native behaviors that power them – and you can translate those insights into actionable roadmaps that drive brand and business impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy and setup of new and emerging channels by identifying and evaluating the opportunities, establishing workflows, building relationships with platform reps and/or mods, and aligning team efforts with client goals

  • Guide clients and teams on how brands should evaluate and expand into emerging platforms, build successful activations on those platforms, and create test-and-learn models to gauge success in emerging spaces

  • Serve as a thought leader and go-to expert on established and emerging platforms such as Reddit, WhatsApp, and Twitch and how brands can credibly show up in these spaces

  • Articulate insights drawn from emerging platform behaviors, subcultures, and conversational trends, organizing observations into clear strategic recommendations

  • Collaborate across strategy, creative, creator and analytics to deliver short- and long-term platform-specific strategies and playbooks that deliver on objectives

  • Stay current on of evolving platform mechanics, audience behaviors, social-first best practices, and governance considerations

  • Partner directly with senior stakeholders and clients to define risk, governance, and brand-building frameworks within community-driven spaces

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience at a social/ digital agency, integrated marketing, or communications firm working as a social media expert and strategist

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience building brand strategies and executing those strategies in community-led platforms such as Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp

  • Familiarity with social media management platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and tools, such as Sprinklr, Sprout Social, and Brandwatch

  • A passion for social media, from both a branding and cultural perspective

  • Understanding of best practices and new features/formats across social platforms (established and emerging)

  • Experience in client services, including having the ability to understand and assess a client’s needs, and be able to confidently own communications and recommendations in email and presentations

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail and storytelling

  • Brings a proactive, self-starting mindset to every engagement and opportunity

  • Experience with global technology and/or retail brands is a plus

  • Experience with influencers, creators, and talent partners is a plus

$105,000-$175,000 a year

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
