Job Description

We are seeking a highly strategic and forward-thinking leader to serve as VP, Social & Audience Growth. This role will define how our brand and titles reach and grow audiences across social platforms and the broader digital ecosystem.
The primary focus of this role is twofold: bringing deep expertise in social platforms and leading the expansion of our reach beyond owned channels. This includes developing platform-native strategies, unlocking new distribution opportunities, and building partnerships that drive visibility, engagement, and audience growth.
This leader will serve as the organization’s expert on social platforms, audience behavior, and digital distribution, helping shape how our campaigns connect with audiences in an increasingly platform-driven world.

Social Platform Expertise

  • Serve as the internal expert on social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, emerging platforms), including algorithms, content formats, and audience behavior
  • Define platform-specific strategies that maximize reach, engagement, and cultural relevance
  • Guide teams on how to create content that performs natively within each platform

Audience Growth & Distribution

  • Lead strategies to expand reach beyond owned channels through creators, partnerships, platform initiatives, and new distribution tactics
  • Identify and execute opportunities to drive audience growth across both organic and paid ecosystems
  • Develop approaches that increase discoverability and visibility for our titles and brand

Partnerships & Ecosystem Development

  • Build and manage relationships with key platform partners, creators, and external collaborators
  • Identify opportunities for co-marketing, platform amplification, and cultural moments that extend reach
  • Leverage partnerships to unlock new audiences and drive scale

Social & Digital Strategy Leadership

  • Oversee social marketing across campaigns, ensuring alignment with overall campaign strategy while driving platform-native execution
  • Evolve social from a content channel into a growth and distribution engine
  • Integrate organic, paid, and influencer strategies into a cohesive approach

Innovation & Experimentation

  • Drive a culture of testing and experimentation across platforms and formats
  • Identify emerging trends, tools, and technologies and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Continuously evolve how the organization uses social and digital to reach audiences

Creative Strategy for Platforms

  • Partner with campaign and creative teams to develop platform-first creative strategies
  • Ensure creative is optimized for performance, shareability, and cultural relevance
  • Guide the development of content that is designed for distribution, not just publication

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with campaign marketing, media, brand, and growth marketing teams to align strategies and maximize impact
  • Provide guidance on how social and digital efforts support broader campaign goals
  • Act as a key voice in shaping how campaigns are distributed and scaled
  • Team Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing social and digital team
  • Establish clear priorities, workflows, and success metrics focused on reach and growth
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in social, digital, or platform-focused marketing
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with major social platforms and how content scales within them.
  • Proven track record of expanding reach and growing audiences beyond owned channels Experience working with creators, influencers, and platform partners Strong understanding of digital ecosystems, platform dynamics, and audience behavior Experience leading teams and driving cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment

What Success Looks Like

  • Significant increase in reach and visibility beyond owned channels
  • Social platforms operate as a true distribution and growth engine
  • Strong partnerships with platforms and creators drive audience expansion Campaigns are built with platform-first thinking and distribution in mind
  • The organization becomes more innovative and effective in how it reaches audiences.

Compensation

$220,000 - $260,000.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
