Transforming into a Headless First AI ERP
Distru is the #1 ERP in the Cannabis Industry with $15B in sales processed through our platform. We’ve built a battle-tested ERP and B2B eCommerce platform that powers inventory, manufacturing, sales, and logistics. We are expanding on our robust ERP foundation and building AI infrastructure to provide commercial businesses their all in one AI stack.

We are growing, profitable, and in a strong position to invest in the AI transformation of our product, GTM motion, and internal way of working. We’re investing heavily in resources including company wide AI classes + workshops, AI demo days, AI hackathons, and access to the best in class models/tools.

We take a tremendous amount of pride in our culture and have 5/5 stars on Glassdoor because we truly care about our people. Our investors include Felicis Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Poseidon Asset Management, and Village Global who have funded companies such as Shopify, Cruise, HelloFresh, Facebook, Slack, and Opendoor.

The Opportunity
We are looking for our first VP of Product to lead our product department! This is an exciting leadership role that will be working directly with the executive team to navigate Product Market Fit in the new AI era. You’ll be taking ownership over our AI product suite, keeping our AI infrastructure ahead of the curve, and navigating market opportunities.

AI is at an inflection point in model capability for the enterprise use case and AI assistants like Codex/Claude/Grok are seeing record adoption in the workplace. We believe the System of Record has never been more valuable to help consolidate and organize data for AI to act upon. We are building towards a headless first direction that focuses on unified access to their ERP data, deep MCP + embedded AI assistant integrations, and seamless UX between the ERP + AI assistant tools. The AI space is incredibly dynamic so the specifics will change with time, so this vision is something you will mold.

You’ll be taking full ownership over shaping the AI product direction, our ERP product line, adopting AI forward product processes, and expanding our team of 4 to 8+. This role will require you structure the product org to handle needs from existing Distru ERP + Distru Commerce customers as well making new AI first product lines. You’ll have a rich culture of long tenured craftsmanship focused teammates to support you around the existing product ecosystem and a rapidly developing AI team experimenting on the frontier of AI.

You’ll be owning the development and execution of our product timeline as well as keeping the organization aligned. There will be a lot of cross departmental collaboration in this role when it comes to working with customers and helping being a voice of thought leadership for our GTM team.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about building great AI products and who is ready to roll up their sleeves with us. There’s a lot of autonomy and room for innovation in this role with the flexibility to implement new methodologies. We welcome any new and wild AI forward ideas you love!

Our Team Culture
Rather than us defining our culture, check out what the team has to say!

What you’ll do:

The scope of this role will shift as we grow. Here is a good idea of what you will own:

  • Own the product direction and strategy across our product lines: Distru ERP, Distru Commerce, Order Agent, Distru Analytics and our AI product suite.

  • Deliver a quarterly strategy review to the exec team. Market Landscape, ERP/AI-wedge sequencing, 1 year roadmap, metrics, and resourcing asks.

  • Own the product hiring pipeline. Directing the hiring process, defining our bar for hiring,  and creatively looking for ways to get top talent.

  • Owning the product timeline as a source of truth for the company and technical teams.

  • Experiment with the team on AI first product processes and foster team wide adoption.

  • Reviewing and iterating on PRDs, designs, and mockups with the product team.

  • Working hands on with the team to define PRD standards across the team.

  • Ensuring we have high quality MCP + API documentation and supporting materials from other teams such as our knowledge base and product launches.

  • Establish an operating cadence with Engineering (planning, roadmap reviews, product-owns-what / engineering-owns-how).

  • Working with engineering to shape our data infrastructure (starrocks, Big query, postgres) to better serve internal and external use cases for AI.

  • Building foundational features for AI that bring us closer to being an all in one AI stack - Unified data layer, agent builder, workflow builder, MCP, and headless experience.

  • Coordinating how product works with Go To Market teams to educate teammates on product features, launch products, and creating AI forward content.

  • Foster a culture of taste + conviction around product choices and directions.

  • Iterate on our CS, Sales, and customer feedback pipeline.

  • Build connections with key customers.

  • Measure and track adoption of key features in a shareable way.

  • Managing the product team and navigating hard conversations. Coaching, hard feedback, performance plans, exits when needed.

What you’ll need:

  • You have built and run a product org, including hiring, coaching, and making hard people calls.

  • Experience building and shipping MCPs (Model Context Protocol) that are used in production.

  • You’ve navigated the expansion of a product into new markets or major new product directions.

  • Strong technical foundation of the modern SAAS + AI stack including infrastructure, data, AI models, and full stack development.

  • Strong grasp of production system concerns: reliability, observability, permissions, and safe workflow execution.

  • Outcome oriented mentality. Failure is more than welcome, but we measure our progress by the outcomes unbiasedly.

  • You still do the work: PRDs, tools, details. You can sit with engineers without translating through a layer.

  • Real AI fluency. Work you have actually built with LLM tooling and a point of view on how to evaluate an AI workflow or AI fluency in a PM.

  • Bonus: experience in ERP, accounting, cannabis, or supply chain software.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work environment. We have teammates in 4 continents!

  • Competitive medical, dental and vision plan options for the employee and their dependents (applicable to W2 US-based employees)

  • 18 days Paid Time Off (We want you to use these!) + 11 Holidays. Sick days do not count toward these

  • Competitive compensation structure including equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
