The VP of People Operations leads HR integration post-acquisition, implements Workday, maps HR processes, and drives people technology adoption, automation, and service delivery.
The summary above was generated by AI

Machinify is a leading healthcare intelligence company with expertise across the payment continuum, delivering unmatched value, transparency, and efficiency to health plan clients across the country. Deployed by over 85 health plans, including many of the top 20, and representing more than 270 million lives, Machinify brings together a fully configurable and content-rich, AI-powered platform along with best-in-class expertise. We’re constantly reimagining what’s possible in our industry, creating disruptively simple, powerfully clear ways to maximize financial outcomes and drive down healthcare costs.

We are looking for a hands-on VP of People Operations!

Machinify has completed the first phase of HR integration across five acquired companies, consolidating policies, processes, and structures into one HR framework.

Simultaneously, Machinify is planning a full HRIS replacement with Workday, and the VP People Operations will be ultimately accountable for this effort. This is a key role that will design systems people actually want to use!

WHAT YOU'LL OWN:

Workday implementation — HR workstream lead

You'll be the HR brain behind our Workday rollout — working hand-in-hand with our Enterprise Apps team to get it right. That means defining what the system actually needs to do (not just what the vendor recommends), shaping module design with our internal experts, and making sure managers and employees genuinely understand and adopt it. Go-live is a milestone, not the finish line.

Process mapping, automation, and AI enablement

Map our core HR workflows end-to-end — from hire-to-onboard through offboarding — and figure out where humans are doing things machines should handle. Build automation using AI and Workday-native tooling, and set data standards that make downstream analytics actually trustworthy. If you see an opportunity to use an LLM or workflow tool that saves real time for real people, pursue it.

Making the MFY framework stick

Our HR framework is solid on paper. Your job is to understand when and why it isn't being followed everywhere — by listening to managers and HRBPs, not just auditing compliance. Then build education and enablement that meets people where they are: decision-tree guides, quick references, smart comms. You'll design targeted interventions for the habits that are hardest to change.

People technology ownership

You'll run our HR systems as a true owner — not just a vendor manager. That includes data integrity, access governance, integration architecture, and a standard reporting package. You'll lead a team of 4 (manager/director, program manager, onboarding and systems specialists) and own the integrations between HR, payroll, ATS, benefits, and AI platforms.

Service delivery, onboarding, and integration

Stand up SLAs for manager and employee requests, and own the new hire experience from preboarding through 90 days — with role-specific tracks that actually reflect how different parts of the company work. You'll also build an AI-powered self-service layer for policy Q&A and onboarding guidance that reduces tier-1 HR volume.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 8–12 years in HR ops or HR tech, with at least 3 years at director or VP level leading a team — you've managed complexity and people, not just projects
  • Real experience deploying AI tools — LLMs, chatbots, workflow automation — inside an HR function. Not a side experiment; something that actually shipped and changed how work gets done
  • Hands-on Workday HCM ownership from the HR functional side — you've defined requirements, shaped module design, and driven adoption. Performance or Compensation module experience is a plus
  • Post-acquisition process change experience — you've navigated entrenched legacy habits and found ways to bring people along rather than just mandate compliance
  • True HRIS ownership — system configuration, data governance, integration management. You've been the person who actually knew the system, not the person who called the vendor
  • A track record of changing behavior through good design, not enforcement — process docs, manager programs, and comms that people actually use
WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Work from anywhere in the US! Machinify is digital-first.
  • Top Medical/Dental/Vision offerings
  • FSA/HSA
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Competitive salary, 401(k) with company match
  • Additional health and wellness benefits and perks
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Flexible and trusting environment where you’ll feel empowered to do your best work
The salary for this position is based on an array of factors unique to each candidate: Such as years and depth of experience, set skills, certifications, etc.  We are hiring for different levels, and our Recruiting team will let you know if you qualify for a different role/range.

Pay range: $185,000-$225,000 + Annual Bonus

Equal Employment Opportunity at Machinify

We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. Machinify is an employment at will employer. We participate in E-Verify as required by applicable law. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
