The Marketing Channels team sits within the Marketing & Operations teams. The team is responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive channel and creative strategy across all distribution channels (including traditional, digital, field and organic). The team focuses on both short-term performance and long-term innovation and driving the evolution of channel marketing capabilities to meet future market demands 

Job Summary 

The Vice President of Paid Marketing will lead our paid media efforts across all channels. This person will own the strategy and execution of our media investments, driving both revenue growth and profitability. They will also play a crucial role in increasing brand awareness for our university partners online programs offering. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in paid media planning and buying, affiliate marketing, performance marketing strategies, and platform management. The VP of Paid Marketing will thrive in a fast-paced environment, is adept at managing complex budgets and campaigns, and can align media spend with both business goals and partner objectives. They will also be responsible for anticipating shifts in media consumption, platform innovation, and performance trends to ensure our strategy, tools and execution remain agile, future-focused, and competitive. 

    Paid Media Strategy & Execution 

    • Own the paid media strategy and execution across all channels (search, affiliates, social, programmatic, display, video, traditional, etc.), ensuring alignment with business and university partner goals and revenue targets. 

    • Allocate media budget strategically to maximize business and partner ROI and LTV/CAC while balancing short term and long-term performance-driven outcomes. 

    • Drive awareness for our university partners online offerings through thoughtful, scalable media strategies. 

    Innovation & Scale 

    • Identify emerging trends and evolving consumer behaviors to inform long-term paid media strategy and develop scalable frameworks that anticipate future business needs and platform shifts. 

    • Champion a culture of innovation, driving continuous testing, optimization, and experimentation across channels. 

    • Shape the future-state vision of our paid media ecosystem to ensure continuous agility, automation, personalization and effectiveness at scale. 

    • Anticipate shifts in data privacy, AI, and marketing technology ensuring our media strategy remains compliant, competitive and future-ready.  

    Manage vendor and agency relationships and selection 

    • Define paid agencies short- and long-term goals. Develop and execute a strategic mix of in-house and agency partnerships, overseeing selection, performance, and alignment with business goals. 

    • Manage agency accountability, performance, and seamless execution across campaigns. 

    Team Leadership and Development: 

    • Talent Development: Invest in the professional growth of the paid marketing team, ensuring that they are equipped with both the skills for current needs and the foresight to manage future marketing technologies and strategies. 

    • Culture of Innovation: Foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and agility within the marketing team. Encourage team members to stay on the cutting edge of marketing trends and technologies. 

    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure that paid marketing is well-integrated with the product, creative, sales, technology, and customer success teams to create a holistic, forward-thinking marketing ecosystem. 

    Data-Driven Decision Making & Performance Metrics 

    • Next-Gen Analytics & Reporting: Drive the adoption of advanced analytics and reporting tools to assess and predict the effectiveness of paid marketing initiatives.  

    • Future-Focused KPIs: Establish KPIs not only focused on immediate performance but also on long-term trends, like lifetime value (LTV), partner growth, and digital transformation milestones.

    Education Level 

    Bachelor’s degree required 

    MBA preferred 

     

    Experience Level 

    10+ years of experience in performance marketing with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role in organizations larger than 2500 employees. 

     

    Experienced leader with a proven track record of successfully guiding larger teams through transformation and organizational changes. 

     

    Proven track record of developing and executing successful paid marketing strategies driving both performance and awareness at scale. 

     

    Experience with digital transformation and integrating advanced marketing technologies into traditional and emerging channel strategies. 

    Proven track record of managing $100M+ media budgets 

    Expertise across a range of platforms (Google, Meta, Affiliates, LinkedIn, TikTok, Programmatic DSPs, CTV, etc.). 

    Deep understanding of measurement frameworks, attribution, incrementality testing, and performance analytics tools. 

    Strong track record managing teams. Has led teams over over 50+ people. 

    Proven ability to partner with creative teams to scale and iterate high-performing assets across platforms.
