Position Overview:
Leads all brand marketing, sales & patient services components of the US Organization, including product strategy & positioning, OL and disease state strategy, HCP strategy & tactics, patient strategy tactics & services, and strategy & content for professional/patient organizations & Congresses. Accountable for developing & delivering Marketing, Sales & Patient Services KPIs.
Responsibilities:
- Hire and manage leaders of brand marketing, sales and patient services
- Constantly evaluate market, competitive intelligence and patient journey for new insights
- Develop US product strategy & positioning (branded and unbranded)
- Refine behavior objectives and associated strategic imperatives to develop and execute brand plan
- Work with Medical Affairs to build US OL strategy, plan and KPIs
- Design and develop disease state strategy
- Create and optimize promotional and tactical mix (for HCPs and patient services)
- Design and evolve CRM strategy (ensure alignment of tactics)
- Develop and evolve US patient services strategy
- Develop and evolve strategy and plan for professional orgs, patient orgs, and Congresses
- Develop marketing, sales & patient services KPIs and assess business performance
- Plan and lead US Organization meetings (objectives, cadence, presenters, content)
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of sales & marketing experience in the life sciences, with a track record of excellence (e.g. overachievement of goal, company awards) preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in the pharmaceutical sales and marketing process (e.g. developing strategic imperatives and behavioral objectives followed by aligned marketing campaigns and tactics that deliver measurable results).
- Experience hiring, motivating and retaining a high-functioning sales and marketing team.
- Experience developing and implementing a patient services strategy.
- Competence working cross-functionally with Medical, Regulatory, and Legal to oversee a high-functioning commercial review process.
- Competence developing and measuring key performance objectives and indicators (KPOs/KPIs).
- Demonstrated experience planning and leading US Organization meetings.
- Oncology, rare disease experience preferred.
- Experience managing external vendors.
- Must be able to work collaboratively within an integrated customer team.
- Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems by referring to established precedents and policies as well as creative thinking, perseverance and asking advice.
- Good understanding of the business drivers and factors that impact on related KPIs.

Compensation Overview:
The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $310,000 to $390,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.
The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

- All Prothena employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, and vision insurance, with Prothena paying ~90% of plan premiums.
- Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.
- Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company’s 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances. The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.
- New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays – which includes a Company-wide shutdown at the winter holidays.
