Ilir Sela started Slice with the belief that local pizzerias deserve all of the advantages of major franchises without compromising their independence. Starting with his family’s pizzerias, we now empower over tens of thousands of restaurants with the technology, services, and collective power that owners need to better serve their digitally minded consumers and build lasting businesses. We’re growing and adding more talent to help fulfil this valuable mission. That’s where you come in.

The Challenge to Solve

Local independents shouldn’t be out-operated by franchises. Slice’s Hubs and The Goods products are how we give shops the operational edge with fast delivery, reliable inventory, and seamless provisioning of everything from branded packaging to hardware. Today, this is powered by a national network of 12 established hubs, built to deliver scale, consistency, and speed.

As we scale, the challenge isn’t simply running warehouses. It’s building a high-performing, multi-region operating system that executes in the real world with speed, discipline, and customer obsession. The Goods is extending these economies of scale directly into our shops, targeting their highest cost pressures and reinforcing our unmatched pricing. We’re looking for a high-agency, multi-site operations leader; someone who can build playbooks, negotiate outcomes, and drive execution through Hub leaders.

Check out The Goods: here

The Role
As VP, Hub Strategy and Operations, you will lead Slice’s hub network and operational performance across regions, supporting shop onboarding, retention and growth.  This is a hands-on, field first leadership role: you’ll spend significant time in hubs and markets, diagnose bottlenecks firsthand, raise execution standards, and build systems that scale.

You will lead a team of Hub Strategy and Operation Managers, own the department budget and drive the operating cadence that ensures hubs execute with speed, quality and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Hub network as a hands-on operator spending time in hubs, running the operating cadence, and holding teams accountable to speed, quality, and service.
  • Drive commercial outcomes across the network; vendor negotiations, cost-to-serve optimisation and service level accountability.
  • Scale SOPs, systems, and operating rhythms across hubs to ensure consistent execution and measurable improvement.
  • Own inventory strategy across Goods, branded packaging, hardware, and consumables to prevent stockouts without bloating working capital.
  • Lead vendor strategy and performance: cost negotiations, capacity planning, quality/service levels, and escalation management.
  • Own budget and unit economics across hubs and supply chain operations; drive continuous cost improvement without sacrificing shop experience.
  • Oversee last-mile delivery models and fleet operations, improving utilization, reliability, safety, and cost per delivery.
  • Build and develop high-performing Hub Strategy & Ops leaders; drive a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Implementation, Product, Tech, Finance, and Central Ops to reduce friction, accelerate onboarding, and improve retention outcomes.

The Winning Recipe
This role needs a builder and operator - someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who can scale systems and hold execution quality across a distributed network.

  • 10+ years leading operations, supply chain, logistics, or multi-site execution at scale
  • Willingness to travel up to ~60% to Hub locations and markets - this is a field first leadership role.
  • Proven track record building and running an operating model (SOPs, controls, KPIs, operating cadence)
  • Strong operating fundamentals across vendors, inventory, and fulfillment - able to learn the domain quickly and drive service + cost outcomes through execution
  • Financial and unit-economics mindset - comfortable owning budgets, forecasting, and cost drivers.
  • Strong people leader with experience developing managers and building cultures of accountability.
  • High judgment + bias for action; thrives in ambiguity and doesn’t wait for perfect information.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership skills (Sales, Implementation, Product/Tech, Finance) - can drive alignment and results.
  • MBA preferred, but not required (we value operational excellence over credentials).

The Extras
Working at Slice comes with a comprehensive set of benefits, but here are some of the unexpected highlights:

  • Flexible PTO
  • Market leading medical, vision and dental insurance
  • 401K matching up to 4%
  • Monthly wellness reimbursement/stipend
  • Weekly pizza stipend (Yes, that’s a thing!)

Salary Range: $235,000 to $310,000 + equity

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
